This happened to me a few months ago. All I did was have the dealer order me a new shift knob. Cost me around $65, and took me literally 90 seconds of work. $300 is an outright rip-off.

If the button cannot be purchased separately, then it's not the button that broke but the shift knob itself. Could this be a valid argument? My button broke up over a year ago and I've had an elastic bracelet around the shift knob holding it on ever since.. Thoughts?
