Kuhmo Road Venture AT51 -- Any Experiences?

Now torn between the Yokohama Geolander and the Kuhmo. The Kuhmo I can get for a song, at around $94 ea plus mounting and balancing. I figure this is around half of what I would pay for a BFG KO2. Any one have experience with them, and if given the choice between a load rating of 108T and 104T what would the trade off be going one over the other?

As his language is limited to the word "jeep,". He possesses high intelligence, so is able to help humans such as Popeye and Olive Oyl solve complex problems. He makes use of a limited form of teleportation: he can disappear from one place and reappear in another, and can walk through and on walls and ceilings. These teleportation powers are said to stem from the Jeep's ability to cross into the fourth dimension.

I just ordered the general grappler have you looked at those? Just curious. Supposed to rival the KO2

My Dodge Journey Crossroad came from the factory with Khumos. They have to be the most junk tire I have ever experienced; absolutely NO wet traction. Within two months, I traded out the tires. The Journey Forum was loaded with negative comments concerning Khumos. Remember, you only get what you pay for.

In fairness, most OEM fitted tires are borderline crappy. I've had performance Kumhos that were very good tires.....can't speak to the performance of the AT's though.

Second this. I remember mounting Kumho Ecsta's on a sedan I had. They rode very well, and recall their wet traction being pretty good.

Red face

I went through the Firestone fiasco with one of my Explorers. The Firestones on my TH are the first Firestones I've owned since then. I do remember the replacement tires that Ford mounted were Destinations and they satisfied me. So, I'm giving Firestone a chance to redeem themselves. I never did believe it to be the fault of the tires, but bad drivers and the odd front suspension on the original Explorers.

I always was a Goodyear customer until they closed my account for lack of use! Did they expect me to buy a set of tires every year? Lately I have been riding on Bridgestone Alenza Plus, which is an excellent tire. Other than being noisy, the Firestones have performed well, but I've only had my TH for 6 weeks!

Definitely get this concern. I've always had a negative impression of Firestone after the scandal with Ford - so much so that the night I picked up my TH, I got online searching on Tire Rack for possible replacements. One month in though, the tires have been performing incredibly well for my needs. We had a recent storm here and was surprised when going over a huge puddle how I felt nothing with respect to hydroplaning. If they can perform above average in the light snow, and safely in deeper snow - I'll consider them good enough

OEM is usually crap. I put a set of Kuhmo Ecstas on my VW and the thing railed like a freakin freight train. Awesome tires and cheap. Definitely belied there inexpensive price. As a matter a of fact, the most expensive tires I have owned, were also the worst I have ever seen. Now, I don't believe the tires I have inquired about were the ones that came on your Journey.

For TH owners do you change out the full size spare tire if you change brands of tires or just keep the spare tire the original Firestone?
