Light just came on and need to get some, I heard rain-x isnt the good for certain Jeep and their washer fluid sensors as it will damage it for some reason, i read it over at Jeep forums.
The issue is rain-x can effect the rain sensors if you have the wipers that come on automatically. In that case you need to stay away from any brand that has rain repellent additive.
Technology package, which I don't think you can get on a sport. So all wiper fluid including rain-x is fair game. So for recommendations, I use whatever Walmart sells and I add the 1 quart bottle of rain-x deicer additive this time of year and it works great.
this time of year, I go for anything that says "deicer" except for rain-x. used some of the original rain-x products & was not happy with their affect after the 1st day of use, so now I just stay away from their stuff. but lots of drivers like their products
I wasn't a fan of rain-x in the past, but the store I went to the other day only had that or the cheap stuff. So I got the standard orange rain-x. I don't think it does an excellent job at cleaning, nor melting ice. That said, it's definitely better than the cheap stuff, just not as good as I would like. I may add a bottle of the de-icer "booster" to it and see if that helps.
I'm going to show my inexperience with snow right now, but.... if you don't have the windshield wiper de-icer that comes with the cold weather grPip, can you get away with just adding de-Icer to your windshield wiper fluid?
Many years ago I had a horrible experience driving to Kirkwood in Tahoe through a blizzard and my windshield wipers completely froze up with built up snow, and I had to keep pulling over to manually clean them off. So far I've only driven through one bad snow storm and luckily this didn't happen, but I would like to be prepared in the future.
Most windshield washer fluids for winter have some degree of antifreeze to it (rated to -25F, -30F for example). I've never seen a reason to add anything to it. I don't know if stores in snow zones even sell the debug summer stuff this time of year, do they?
sure just turn up your front defogger temp to high and use a lot of liquid deicer. I've been in blizzards where even that plus the electric windshield elements weren't enough. clearly I should not have been driving then!
Yeah, when it's dumping hard the wipers can get pretty caked with snow and ice. The worst is when there's a chunk caked onto the blade right in the middle, leaving wet streaks right across your line of sight. Sometimes you have to just stop and clean off the wipers by hand.
lost a wiper bladed entirely once. was driving thru a blizzard following the tracks of a tractor trailer. snow so hard could barely see the truck or the other cars. was forced to get off an exit and buy a wiper blade. pretty tricky navigating the exit & on ramps. got lucky finding a station w a blade the right size. now whenever I put the winter blades on I keep the summer blades in the way back in case I need a remote field repair. was driving to visit girlfriend in college. instead of 3 hrs it took 7 hrs. my parents and passenger's parents were pissed we didn't call. of course no cell phones in the early '80s & we were so desperate to get back on the rd when we got off for the wiper we didn't even think about calling anyone to complain about the snow. that was a front wheel drive Chevy Citation with "radials" this is before there were "all-season" tires. ppl were touting the foul weather benefits of "radials" lol. of course when we got to Binghamton NY there was no snow, what?! yeah southern storm.
Splash.................
Its slightly purple and good to -35. I believe they make several versions.
Basically any windshield wash for the temp in your area will work.
I have auto wipers and not had an issue. Also the liquid wax I use, Turtle Wax Ice, gets on my windshield and beads the water off and no issues with the wipers to date.
I opted for the color only because that's the same as Mopar uses I believe in there own?
should look for a picture of it. I know I have one w my girlfriend in it. Dad helped me get it from a lease company. eggshell white, yuk. totaled it & bought another just like it. def had the sideways 6. very fun. used to run the power line trails on the cape. yes I did get stuck but still fun. I was pushing the front wheel drive and radials to their limit. dumb kid. the back was fun ;-) great gas mileage, 28 mph on regular highway trips to visit my girlfriend at school
Try cleaning it first. Someone posted a video on the forum last year (I won't find it...) and the technique is simple : use rubbing (or denatured) alcool with whatever like a paper towel and wipe down all blades, It could remove enough gunk to give the blades a new life.
I remember having to get out and push our rear wheel drive/open diff cars a lot as a kid. My dad would rock the car back and forth trying to get unstuck as I pushed from behind like a total a-hole. Awd/4wd and snow tires were the greatest inventions ever for those of us living in mountain communities.
And the sound the spinning tires made, the blue smoke when there was a little bit of pavement there...
And then when Marisa Tomei said to the judge the car had Positraction, I thought... why aren't all RWDs like that
