Do you underutilize your Trailhawk?

Just curious how many people have bought a Trailhawk with no intention of ever going out on the trail?

We just did a factory order for a High Altitude model with ADI. It was a well-thought out decision as we wanted to be sure we didn't need ADII or any other option we wouldn't use. But as soon as we tell friends we decided to go with a Cherokee, the first question is usually, "Is it a Trailhawk?"

To me, the saddest thing is to see a Trailhawk owned by someone who will only ever drive it around the city and has no intention of driving it off-road. In my mind, if you want the 4x4 capability but not the off-road prowess, buy any other model with a V6. A Trailhawk without a trail is like a bird that's kept in a cage.

Each morning I walk by a burgundy Trailhawk sitting in a driveway with the engine running as it warms up. The family who own it are obviously getting ready to drive it to work or school and don't look to me like they have any intention of hitting a trail any time soon. It makes me sad.

My TH has been off road once. And got scratched to ****. (Mostly in the clear coat). Gonna have to polish it up after winter.
I have off road tires and it will likely not go off road too much. The occasional trail in the spring/summer I hope. It's usually only on the road. Loved the look and it was on sale. That's why I bought it. Nice to know if I want to go off the beaten path I can

Most lifted trucks with rims and mud trucks never go off road either lol

A lot of people will buy a vehicule because it caught their eye, or for some status thing, not primarily for its capabilities. And those people are much less likely to join a forum like this one.
Hey if they've got the cash, they'll buy whatever they want. Same with exotics : how many have racetrack training ?

My TH is "underutilized" in that I'm not on the trails every day and, when on the trails, have yet to hit anything that ADI or ADII couldn't handle.

But, I want it for when I *do* hit that spot where ADI or ADII aren't sufficient. Or for when ADI/ADII would get me into a spot they couldn't get out of.

I have bought several Trailhawks and have no intention of using it (present one I now own) on a trail or off road unless I accidentally slide off road in snow which is very rare here in Upstate SC. I love the ride of the TH and the stability of it over my previous Limited (ADI) and Latitude. The Latitude had AD II which made it basically the same height and suspension of the TH I think, but just love the TH so much more that I just bought my 2017 about a month ago. I like the looks better too and the ride is much better in my way of thinking--not others--just speaking for myself. I am a senior citizen and the seats are so comfortable which I guess would be the same in any of them with the Ventilated/Memory seat package. (part of the TH Plus group for 2017) Sorry my TH probably makes you sad too, but it makes me . I hope you did order the tow package as that cannot be added with the same amount of tow capability and it will cost you more if you do add it
Enjoy your new KL--just answering your question about a TH staying clean on the road most of the time

@ptram : just FYI, with model year 2017, you can now have what is called a tow prep package (optional), which basically comes with everything in the Tow Group except the receiver and wiring. I don't know why they waited so long to offer this. With this installed, you have a receiver and wiring installed when you want, and get the 4500 lbs towing capacity with the V6.

We purchased our 15TH because we had owned nothing but sport coupes in our 40 years of driving and wanted to see what a 4X4 was like.. It sits in our garage next to our 16RT Challenger for weeks on end. We have 5 cars so not only does this not go off road but barley gets used, polished and put away. We live just outside NYC there's no off roads around us.

Seriously?
I have fire extinguishers in my house and never have any intention of using them. I guess they are "underutilized" as well. Does that make you sad?

I live in a metro area but, we have beaches that are ORV accessible in the east and mountains in the west plus I grew up in the Poconos in PA.

Whether or not you offroad is not the issue, the issue is whether you can use the vehicle for it's intended purposes and, that would be transportation. If it gets you from A to B to C, that is it purpose. Your personal taste dictates what type of vehicle you drive.

Perfect example are the fools driving 85 mph on the interstate in a stupid Prius!!! You bought the vehicle for better gas mileage but, the faster you drive the worse the mileage. Drops mike.
