We've been encased in ice for the past several days here in Portland, OR. The roads are basically an ice rink on the secondary streets.

I've been using Snow Mode and reasonable driving with great success. No slippy sliding. Just a smooth safe ride.

This was my first winter driving my 2015 North model. Decided to stay with the factory tires.
For xmas holiday's I went to visit my dad and the road there is over a high moutain pass (The Coquahalla in BC, Canada).
I left it in auto until I started climbing the hills and the roads got slippier. I felt 4wd kick in a few times, but it was not consistent and would affect how I was driving as just fwd. So went to snow mode. Left it there until I reached my destination a few hours later.
the return trip it was in snow mode until I was long out of the hills and on reasonable clear flat roads.
Now I have switched to the Yokaham Geoland G015 tires. Might wait a bit longer before switching next time.

I use sport for having fun, merging in traffic (use the manual shifft in those cases as well), or for turning left or crossing a road in tight trafffic.

Haven't had a chance yet to really use mud/sand (an inch of much in a small parking lot for 50 feet doesn't really count), but look forward to it.

2015 Cherokee North, 2.4, White w/leather.
Yokohama Geolander G015's.
8.4 UConnect w/o Nav, Garmin Nuvi 2689LMT.

I was in sand/mud mode today to get across the neighborhood. This storm is insane. Northern California is getting hit even harder, I've read.
@Toecutter: can you switch between auto and snow mode while driving? I just got my first Jeep and have never even had 4-wheel drive before....

I had to use 4-low and locked to pull my wife out of our driveway this morning. We got several more inches of snow overnight and our sedan just didn't have the clearance. I would've taken pictures of the towing operation but I was busy driving and getting her to work.

The forecast calls for up to an extra foot of snow in town today. Yikes.

I"ve used auto most of the time, only time I find snow mode useful is on very slippery surfaces (pure ice) and on a hill or incline.

My Wife's 2014 seems to have a lot more slippage when in auto before the back tires kick in so she uses snow almost all the time when its slippery out.

The ultimate though is snow mode in 4-low.

The first part of the video is 4-low auto, and i'll let everyone else guess when snow mode was activated =)

We had some snow and more dangerously ice here in Illinois. I use snow mode the whole time even a day later when it was kind of cleared. I noticed that traction was not an issue and when I got out of the car the front mudflaps had much more snow on them then the rear. Obviously it must use more front tires than rear, which would make sense.

Well...we got 12 inches of real snow here in Portland. Drove around for a bit in the TH. Used Snow Mode of course. The TH was sure footed and did extremely well. Went back home because it was the other drivers I was worried about.

gorgeous. there must be a "inchfall sweetspot" where it's enough to go play, enough that regular cars have to stay home, but not enough to close the roads or for family to think you're crazy for going out

The biggest reason I was in such a hurry to dig her car out was because it was blocking me in and the local ski area got 20 inches of fresh snow since the previous day. I was silently panicking that I was about to miss the biggest powder day of the season!
