Question Can someone please clarify this?!?

Hello all!

Just purchased my 2014 Cherokee and love it! However, I can't figure out or get a straight answer whether or not my heated seats are working correctly. Both the bottoms of the seats heat fine. Do the lumbar section of the seats heat as well? I have cloth heated seats w/o ventilation. I can feel heat coming from the passenger lumbar but not the driver lumbar. Is this normal or am I going crazy?

I've called Jeep, they don't know, they have to get back to me. I've asked the dealer before purchasing it and they said it was just the bottom cushion that heats. Parts and service said there is a lumbar heating pad. Can someone please help?! Thanks!

I have the heated seats, and as far as I know, it only heats the seat bottoms, and not the lumbar support. Not a huge deal, but my 2005 Mini was able to heat both the bottom, and the lumbar. I wonder though if it has something to do with the adjustable lumbar support as to why it doesn't have it.

I have a bad back and use my heated seats summer and winter and I get heat on my lower back up to about 6 to 8 inches--just guessing, but definitely heat on part of the lower back. My current KL does have the vented leather which of course I never use the vents for cool air. I also have a 2015 Jeep Patriot with heated leather and I do feel some heat on my lower back on it too--pretty sure it doesn't goes as high as the KL--will check and get back to you on both of them.

Didn't realize you are a new member--so welcome to the forum and a great question.

Thank you for the replies. It is a selling point for me unfortunately. I also have a bad back and it definitely helps for long trips. I'll try to verify again. I'll set the lumbar to press harder against my back to see if maybe the heat pad isn't directly under the cushion? Doubt it, but it's worth a try. Worst case I'll have to get one installed, but if it is supposed to be there, that's a few hundred bucks saved to put toward the Jeep.

We do have the premium leather with ventilated (cooled) seats so it's a bit different, but our back definitely is heated... in fact, it runs almost up to the shoulders.

Interesting. Yeah, I've never noticed the lumbar area having heat when my heatest seats are on. Is it possible it's due to the ventilated seat option as well (which I don't have)?

I'll have to double check later on when I get off work this afternoon, and confirm if I truly don't have heat on the lumbar area.

Can someone else confirm or deny heat on the lumbar area for a non-ventilated, powered seat?

Welcome. Check under the seat and make sure everything is plugged in. Some heated seats have a ribbon cable between the bottom and back pads; some have separate connectors. Mine is heated both seat and back, but it takes a while to heat up. I think that this is because of the ventilation pads. My Dealer told me that is just the way it works.

We could start a thread on bad backs. I have an artificial disc at L4/L5 and another one at L5/S1. L3/L4 is bulging - just a waiting game now! Holding everything together are 6 bolts and two rods!

Holy crap, dude. Next thing you're going to say is you have an artificial hip, and both knees replaced, correct?

I'll bet then your back loves you for the heated seats then.

Good lord. Glad to see though a few screws, spinal fusions, and steel plates haven't stopped you from motoring on, man.

Sorry for drifting into OT territory.
