Wheel well skirt popped out of place

Not sure why, but washed and detailed the KL today after all the storms. We're suppose to get hammered with snow beginning Thursday all the way into early next week. Probably cinched up that forecast lol.

While drying it off I noticed what looked like something hanging or caught up in the left rear wheel well. I got a closer look and it was the wheel well skirting that had popped out from behind the dark plastic trim around the fender/wheel. Think I may have read something on this before, but couldn't find it. Took a bit of a fight, but had to press real hard to get the skirting back into place and locked in behind the dark plastic trim around the wheel. Now I've been out bee-bopping in the snow and mud, but nothing very taxing really. No Monster Truck rallies lol. Anyone experience this? Was only the left rear wheel. Was sure a bugger to get back into place so thinking it took something drastic to get it to pop out, but have no clue? Anyone experiencing this?

Thanks.. Yeah, not as huge issue, just inconvenient. I didn't think I did anything close to cause it. was just checking to be sure there wasn't some issue. I agree though on the bad design.

The wheel well piece has popped out on mine also. I have pushed it back but it barely catches the trim that holds it in place so I am sure it will come out again. It looked to me like Jeep changed the wheel trim design on a 2017 rental I drove. I don't think the new models will have this issue.
