I haven't seen the interior roof with the headliner pulled down, so I don't know what kind of bracing/reinforcement is there for the rack mounts.
However.... are you comfortable drilling through from the exterior of the roof 8x times and not snag something internal or potentially go through the headliner, as well as not leaving steel shavings inside?
You'd probably also want do get some exact measurements of somebody else with the roof racks so you know where you want to mount; both to avoid anything interior as well as align with what the Gobi is expecting.
Not saying it's not doable (and I'd love to see somebody take detailed pics with the headliner down....
), but I don't know if there is anything fundamentally different with the construction with/without the factory racks. I believe somebody else has done something similar, but I can't find the post right now.
