is excellent. The update software is free and the cost of a flash drive is MUCH less than the dealer wants to charge you. Performing the software update would have an effect similar to reinstalling the operating software on your home computer. It "wipes the slate clean" and brings your system up to date so that it's compatible with the current satellite signals.
I haven't had issues with my Uconnect systems, but I have done the software updates twice. It's not difficult if you follow the provided instructions carefully. Even if you make a mistake, you won't "brick" your system. It will just return to the software that was originally installed, giving you a chance to try again. Good luck!
