Anyone recognize this bolt???

Lifted up my floor mats to start cleaning and I found this on the floor behind the passenger seat. It's about 1.5" long, 0.25" wide.

Talk about a scary situation, finding a random 10.9 bolt that clearly belongs somewhere!

With that special spiral *Mortorq* head, it's likely a seat track bolt. Look at all your seat tracks, you should find a bolt missing.

I've been in many a car assembly plant where a bolt was dropped during installation and it is easier and faster to just get another one. My guess is that the bolt you found is a "spare"...

I would still check, but it is more likely one that was dropped.

Could very well be. Thought of that after I posted... And not to mention the fact that seat track bolts are supposed to be on tight, no way for them to just unscrew and fall off by themselves. Unless someone tinkered. But to tinker one needs Mortorq bits lol.

I believe that's the case here. I checked all corners of the seat tracks they match and I don't see one missing. Crisis averted apparently!

Thanks fellas.

You bet.

If you're a little OCD (like me ), you could use a magnifying glass and look closely at the head to see if there was ever a Mortorq bit in there that *micro scratched* the black coating. If paint is immaculate, likely a new/dropped bolt indeed.

You're welcome. If you look at the bolt again, there is no evidence that the bolt was ever used...

Found 2 of those while doing the in car orientation with the salesman.

Dude didn't know what to say for awhile.

Finally gave me permission to keep em. Bonus!

Guy in the garage later said they were probably extra seat bolts that just fell there during assembly, and weren't picked up.

Also a potential cause (in general) of "where's that $*@#&$@* rattle coming from?!!?"
