Anyone interested in doing a group buy on rock rails? We can get 15% (maybe 20%) if we get enough people in. I think it would be worth it considering they are about 700 if you get the steprails with cover plates.

Received my tracking number today via email from UPS Quantum. Still says 'Awaiting processing' on the RRO website, but my credit card does show a Pending Transaction from RRO as of today.

$575.94 was the total after discounts. That's for SuperSlider plus cover plates.

My package is still at some UPS center in Utah, been there since Friday. I don't think I am getting it tomorrow.

#478 ·
Mine said the same thing, then I checked in the morning and it was on the truck for delivery.

Mine should be delivered tomorrow! Unfortunately, i'm on the other side of the world right now, so I won't be installing for a few weeks. The final charge to my credit card was $575.94 for super sliders and covers. Did the prices go up since the group buy? Right now it is $589 supersliders + $99 covers + 129 shipping = $817. Looks like we might have gotten more than 20% off?

#484 ·
I was charged $700 something, but my shipping was a lot more then everyone else. I ran the numbers and mine should of been $885, so shipping might of been cheaper then excepted??

#485 ·
I only ordered just the Step Rails (Super Sliders) and it ran me a total of $496.74. Breakdown was this:

$459.00 - 20% = $367.20

Shipping $129.54

TOTAL $496.74

Looks like they raised prices as the list price at the time I placed my order for the group buy was $459.00, now they're $589. Sheesh!!

#486 ·
Ahhh, that explains it. I thought the $589 list price seemed higher than I remembered.

#487 ·
I guess they need to make back some money that they lost from the group buy.

All I can say is WOW about the price increase. I usually end up on the wrong end of these things. 20% off the old price, I'm quite pleased. Had there not been the group buy, I would still be on the fence about getting them. If the Mopar Rock Rails were ~$200-$300 cheaper, I would have gone that route already. I love the looks of both.

In other news, mine arrived today. I do wonder if they gave Paypal orders any priority since they got my money at the time of order.

After all orders were in, had they said delivery would fall to September/October, I would not have been surprised. I am pretty impressed with their timing.

I cannot get over how heavy they are. I knew all along Sliders + Covers shipping weight is 100 lbs, but once out of the box, just one Slider felt like a ton.

#497 ·
My sliders just showed up minus the cover plates. I have a note saying they'll ship next week. No email communication about half the order missing. Luckily my install partner canceled on me for tomorrow. Oh and you can bet they already charged me the full amount.

#498 ·
frustrating for sure, but not the end of the world. you can install the cover plates after the rails have been installed, the rails do not need to be removed to have the cover plates installed. just FYI.

I've got one spot to touch up so I probably wouldn't be installing tomorrow anyway. On a positive note, these things look bitchin'

Just got my box...hope no parts fell out.

My box was shrink wrapped on each end, so the ends were in good shape. The middle area was not taped or wrapped, and the middle ~3 feet had come open despite a ton of brass staples.

The hardware was wrapped onto the sliders, so it wasn't going anywhere thankfully.

I touched mine up in about 5 places per side. As well wrapped as they were, I was rather surprised there were that many spots to touch up. Had to be pre-packaging handling. Maybe the trip to and from the powdercoater. I used Rustoleum's gloss black paint. I kinda like the shiny look. I had considered rough-the-surface then spray on bedliner, but decided against it.

Just installed my super sliders, they look great. Then I realize, there are 6 holes on each side that aren't plugged. Two ins each door under the plate, and two exposed in the middle. Darn, (the other word posted like ****)now I have to take them off again and seal them
It would be nice if the kit came with some rubber plugs. All in all those sliders are nice.
How many plastic clips held your rocker panels on? I was expecting three per door, not 12 + the ones on the underside!

I until I lined a slider up with them, I was in a little panic wondering if the '17s had more holes and holes in different locations.

I guess I am the only one that had the top holes kick their butt? First, I slightly opened up the hole with a 3/8" bit, and that was super easy. My bit set's next size up was 1/2". That sucker grabbed the thin metal and twisted around. It warped it around the hole. Grrrr. With some needle nose pliers, I shaped it back up fairly well. Once I got the hole round again, I got to 9/16" by turning the 1/2" bit at angles, but I didn't really like that method.

So, Thursday night I had bought a $30 set of Milwaukee Cobalt bits for the pinch weld. It's largest bit was the aforementioned 1/2" bit. Tonight I went back and got a $79 Titanium kit that has umpteen bit sizes between 3/8" and 1/2". I'll just drill the holes out in steps. I went ahead and bought a 9/16" bit ($17, ouch). I hope stepping from 1/2" to 9/16" won't get that Metal-Chew result that going from 3/8" to 1/2" yielded. I may try to hold the bit with a vise grip and turn it by hand.

Today ended with 3 top holes sloppily drilled. With the added bits, I hope the others will go smoother, so I can happily move onto the pinch weld holes!

I didn't have a single issue with those holes. I found that LIGHT pressure when drilling those is extremely important since the metal is very thin and pliable.

Just a tip from an old tool and die maker on drill bits. Try and find drills with 135-140 included angle on the point. They flatter drill points generally work better on tougher materials like stainless or slightly hardened areas like pinch welds. Also, the longer you can keep the cutting lips (point)engaged, the less likely to tear and grab the material you are cutting. Slow down your rpms and give firm even pressure and you should be able to cut through nice and easy. Composition of the drill is important too. Hope that helps.

What is more critical, less gap between the slider and pinch seam or the top of the slider and the door opening?

I'm thinking door slider to door opening then put spacers between the pinch seam and slider. The well nuts make me think the slider needs to be as close as possible. This is my first time using well nuts.

I'm also having a hard time with alignment on the bottom holes. They are too high, and there isn't enough room for the bolt head or nut. I've got 3 in on the driver's side, and only one has washers.

Off to passenger side and see how well it goes.

Anyone who paid via PayPal get any info yet? I still haven't received anything. And did you get your 10% off when you got transferred to PayPal? Looking back im not sure, know for sure 100% it was in on the site, but not sure if it transferred over to PayPal.

@bugni555

Did you get the answer you needed? I don't recall the "transferred to PayPal" part, but I recall 10% was off during the initial transaction. The same day the sliders shipped, I got a PayPal email stating the other 10% (for me, $55) was being refunded.

Received my sliders today (also with a note the covers will ship separate).

For the most part they were in pretty good condition and there was no rust. There were a couple small chips in the coating on a couple edges, but no big deal. However one slider had a small gouge and compression damage at the end of one slider as if it were dropped at some point. I just filed down the high-spot, filled in the gash with steel reinforced JB-Weld Epoxy and coated any exposed metal with the remaining Epoxy. Wiped off the dust and put on a couple coats of Rust-Oleum Truck Bed Coating (248914) . I'll run a final coat tomorrow.

I am glad to see that they try to keep their documentation up to date. I noticed the included documentation had some reformatting and additional information that was not on the PDF I acquired last year. (GOBI on the other hand, although has great support, I'm pretty sure outsourced their documentation to a country without spell-check and uses Windows 95 MSPaint for the formatting *facepalm*)
