Our discussion went to the fact that they would probably have to update uConnect for the seat heater....then snowballed into a discussion of the membership here speaking about how satisfied everyone is with the recent TCM updates and other module flashes and updates...

Fast forward to Skip saying " Oh, ****, just do everything outstanding...if you brick my Cherokee, i will just park it out front"

Apparently there are 17 updates, recalls, TSBs, flashes, you name them for my vehicle.

They said it would take two days, so I am driving a pretty darn slick 2009 minivan for a few days...
Not as many updates for me I'm sure, but the jeep goes in for its first oil change (have to due to the 12 months per warrenty, only 3600 miles) and I'm a little nervous what's going to happen on the update front.

If only....they told me two days....I called at 5pm today just to see if they were waiting on me since I got no call to come get it.

"...all updates, etc are done, we just have to get the driver's seat back together..."

Umm, what?

"...we couldn't get the heater to function correctly with software updates or a BCM update, so they are replacing the heating elements in the seat"

Oh, you mean you removed the skin and are replacing the heating elements?

"...yeah, they just need to make sure they have the seat back together right...we'll call you tomorrow when it's ready"

My 2014's recalls are complete with no issues.
Also the required updates (TCM/PCM) are complete with no issues other than losing 2nd on the downshift.
Only 2 TCMs were involved. The big one from May 2015 and the minor one involving the harness recall TCM.
There were some other unrelated TSBs but no issues to date.
Your advantage is you will get the latest TCMs and most likely avoid the problematic ones..
Though my transmission is flawless, I'm still leary of its long life.
One of the reasons I am glad I got a Max Care life.
I am eagerly waiting for your review and list of what they did.
And this is OK with you? This is exactly why I never had any updates. Beginning in early 2014 when they were throwing updates at the trans to correct shifting issues and making it worse was when I decided to not do any updates. I only decided to now due to reports that shifting (up/down) issues had been ironed out after R01 took 2nd gear. I hope that the latest TCM update is a 'smooth as silk' result.

My transmission has been delightful...I only hope it is still that way when I pick it up tomorrow...

Actually its not ok but I have little choice in the matter. The problem with the updates is what was done and when.
I have gotten only one update to date. That was a May 2014 dated TSB (required) that was installed on my Cherokee in May 2015. That update consisted of a TCM and a PCM update. According to the dealer that was the only one that was required. The RO1 was not required for mine. As of last December (12/16) there were no further "required" updates for my Cherokee.
The transmission cable recall involved a minor TCM update if I want to include that in the list.
In my case there were TSBs showing up on the scan but none as required. My dealer actually does not do any updates unless "required" or I am having a issue.
So when I read all those multiple TCM updates that people were getting I have to consider that may have been some of the issues with the transmission.

I am sure that you will be happy and your shifting will be smooth, though you may have a bit of AL to work out. With mine (May 2015) I lost 8th gear for a while with the AL relearn.
Just let me know if you do lose 2nd. The only real pain with 2nd is when I tow and creep.

Hey Skip, hope you get it back today working great. I am surprised as you were about having to replace your heating elements in the seat.
