Lifetime warranty still an option?

I bought my Jeep in Nov 2013 and now have just over 30K miles on it. I originally extended the bumper to bumper warranty out to 5 years, but am now trying to determine if a lifetime warranty is still an option or even makes sense. I have been having some issues with the vehicle lately and I don't want to be stuck paying for expensive repairs after the warranty is up. I have been thinking of trading it in but I am very close to paying it off and don't really want another car payment if I can avoid it. A lifetime warranty might give me the peace of mind to hold on to it. Is this something I should look into or should I just cut my losses and trade it towards something else?

You can purchase a MaxCare Lifetime through your dealer I imagine, or you can contact Clay @ Zeller Motors (or at least that's where he was) You can find his contact info here on the forums. He was beating the prices offered by dealers at last check. I don't think purchasing the 5yr precludes you from getting a more comprehensive warranty. Just don't go aftermarket, stay with a Mopar warranty.

I BELIEVE you can upgrade at a reduced price from one warranty to another. I bought mine from Tom Winkels (tomwinkels@hayescars.com) ; Same price as Clay. His dealership supports some of the Wrangler and WK Jeep forums so I went thru him instead of Clay. Great to deal with
Send him an email and let him know your situation and see what kind of deal he can work for you

You can buy a Lifetime Maxcare as long as your in service date is less than 48 months ago and you have less than 48,000 miles. It appears as though you satisfy both requirements so you should be eligible.

Thanks everyone for the information. I am going to reach out to the dealers listed to see what kind of price I could get to upgrade.

Do you have an email address for Clay at Robbins Motors? I'm interested in an extended warranty. Thanks.

Is the lifetime warranty only good till the cost to repair is more than the value of the vehicle?

Also, my dealership is pushing the Allstate extended warranty plans (never said anything about Mopar's plans). Are they any good?

I bet the Allstate plan is more expensive than the Mopar plan, and Mopar is always better than thirdparty like Allstate IMHO. Try asking Clay at Clay@robbinsmotors.com for his price on the lifetime Mopar plan (if it's okay posting his email here). If not PM me for his email.

Thanks to you guys that posted your experiences with obtaining extended warranties. I followed your suggestions and asked for quotes from the guys you recommended.

I ended up getting an 84 mo., 100 mi MaxCare deal from Tom Winkels with Hayes Jeep in Michigan, simply because he had the best price. He was very professional and thorough with this explanation of how the process worked. The others that I dealt with were also very helpful.

I also checked with my local dealer where I bought the vehicle. Tom Winkels beat their price by 50%. I offered to buy from them if they'd meet Tom's price. No deal.

Tom's email address is tomwinkels@hayescars.com
