Lifetime warranty still an option?

I bought my Jeep in Nov 2013 and now have just over 30K miles on it. I originally extended the bumper to bumper warranty out to 5 years, but am now trying to determine if a lifetime warranty is still an option or even makes sense. I have been having some issues with the vehicle lately and I don't want to be stuck paying for expensive repairs after the warranty is up. I have been thinking of trading it in but I am very close to paying it off and don't really want another car payment if I can avoid it. A lifetime warranty might give me the peace of mind to hold on to it. Is this something I should look into or should I just cut my losses and trade it towards something else?

You can purchase a MaxCare Lifetime through your dealer I imagine, or you can contact Clay @ Zeller Motors (or at least that's where he was) You can find his contact info here on the forums. He was beating the prices offered by dealers at last check. I don't think purchasing the 5yr precludes you from getting a more comprehensive warranty. Just don't go aftermarket, stay with a Mopar warranty.

You can buy a Lifetime Maxcare as long as your in service date is less than 48 months ago and you have less than 48,000 miles. It appears as though you satisfy both requirements so you should be eligible.

Is the lifetime warranty only good till the cost to repair is more than the value of the vehicle?

Also, my dealership is pushing the Allstate extended warranty plans (never said anything about Mopar's plans). Are they any good?

Thanks to you guys that posted your experiences with obtaining extended warranties. I followed your suggestions and asked for quotes from the guys you recommended.

I ended up getting an 84 mo., 100 mi MaxCare deal from Tom Winkels with Hayes Jeep in Michigan, simply because he had the best price. He was very professional and thorough with this explanation of how the process worked. The others that I dealt with were also very helpful.

I also checked with my local dealer where I bought the vehicle. Tom Winkels beat their price by 50%. I offered to buy from them if they'd meet Tom's price. No deal.

Tom's email address is tomwinkels@hayescars.com

Glad to see another person who used Tom

He was great and professional to me. I know most folks on here use Clay. I was going to use Clay but he was on vacation and when I read that Toms dealership provided sponsorship a Jeep forum I didn't hesitate to use him

I was just checking on a max care lifetime for wife's Journey and the 84 mo 100,000 mi was slightly cheaper, but not even worth considering for the difference in coverage. What's the Cherokee one running now? I paid right around $2,200 for my Jeep lifetime max care in 15, if I remember right, and the one for the Journey now is $2,680. Thinking I'll not do it for the Journey, pretty solid old school design with bugs pretty well worked out. It is a really nice ride though. Not sure I would own my Cherokee had I tried a Journey in 15.

Just to follow up after getting a few quotes, the MOPAR Lifetime $100 deductible Warranty is available until 48 months from original ‘in service’ date or 48,000 miles, whichever comes first. For those beyond the first 12 months, it is around $2800-2900, which includes a $150 surcharge for being over 12 months. Lifetime $0 deductible is available too, but it is about $2000 more expensive.

I think that there are a lot of other factors here to consider whether you want a lifetime warranty or not - but obviously is money is not an issue, then just go for it. The warranty will increase your sell price if ever you wanted to pass the car on to someone else but you'll have to consider whether you'll be making the most of it while the car is in your possession or not. I personally would go for the warranty where it's available so here's hoping you manage to find a good deal mate!

Actually the life time MaxCare is not transferable BUT it also tells the prospective new owner that there is no correctable issues with the vehicle. There is no reason to dump a problematic vehicle in that case.
Also on a test drive if an issue is found it can be corrected before the sale is complete at minimal cost as long as its not a wear item.
In other words selling the vehicle because there is a big problem with it is null and void. Gives the buyer confidence they are getting a good vehicle.

I never considered any extended warranty or even heard of a lifetime warranty until in the process of buying my TH. I've had 2 Jeep Grand Cherokees before, they were great and fun to drive but I spent quite a bit of money on out of warranty repairs especially on the one I had for 15 years so I'm happy I don't have to worry about any repairs for the rest of the TH's life. The cost of the lifetime warranty seems very reasonable, just a couple of major repairs will recover the cost of the warranty. Since I'm not planning to sell the TH, the transferability of the warranty doesn't matter. So far the TH is the best vehicle I've ever had, quiet and solid with a lot of modern features that should now provide me with "no-cost" transportation except for gas and routine stuff like oil, brake and tire changes.

Hello, I'm thinking about purchasing a Lifetime Maximum Care warranty for my 2016 Jeep Cherokee Sport. I called Mopar and there quote was $4115 but you could paid it in 24 months interest free. My Jeep currently has 24,000 miles (in a year) and I'm planning at lest to have it for 10+ years. So, by doing math The Jeep will be out of the 36,000 miles warranty sometime in the next 8 months, and out of the drivetrain warranty in the next 2 years. So lifetime maximun care warranty seems like a no-brainer except for the $4115 quote from Mopar.

Then I read a few posts regarding Jeep warranty and the name Clay keep popping up on the forum. What type of warranty does Clay sell? It is the same Mopar warranty (from the jeep website)? Have any of you used the warranty? Its is worth it.

What is the website and contact information for "Clay" or whoever sell the cheapest Lifetime Maximun Care warranty? How much have paid for the warranty?

Also, I'm in the military and currenty stationed in Puerto Rico, bought the Jeep from Military Auto Source on Fort Buchanan. Mopar told me that I can purchase and use the Mopar lifetime warranty anyware in the US including the US Territories such as Puerto Rico,Guam, US Virgin Islands, etc. so my location should not me a problem. There are like 6 Jeep dealerships in PR but they sell warranties from insurance companies (probably they make more $ that way).

Any info/help will,be appreciated.

Actually there are some on-line options for your warranty such as http://www.chryslerfactoryplans.com/
A search on this forum will gige you some others.
The lifetime comes in 0, 100. and 200 deductible. These come in around $3000 depending on deductible (100/200) and time till the factory warranty expires. So there is a considerable savings.
These are official Chrysler Mopar Max Care plans offered by dealers that are selling them on line. Clay is a dealer in Kansas I believe that sells them over the phone only. He has been the lowest cost in general.
Just stick with the Chrysler Max care Service plan and not a 3rd party. The nice thing about the Lifetime is the exclusions are basically wear items only and are listed as such.
Clay will sell which ever Chrysler plan you want that is applicable to your situation. You can go online and check out the plans available to you, the details of each, and pricing.
Call clay and get his price and make your decision.
Good luck.

Is there a price difference to buy the unlimited Mopar warranty when the car is new rather than, let's say, with three years and 36,000 miles on it? It doesn't actually get used during the factory warranty, correct?

I actually paid LESS than was quoted when I purchased my KL, and I bought the MaxCare Lifetime $100 deductible with around 28,000 miles. I got a quote from a seller often referenced here on the forums and took that to my selling dealer and they matched it.

Other than price, is there an advantage to purchasing the MaxCare Lifetime warranty at time of purchase rather than waiting until the basic 3 year warranty is about to expire? In other words, are there things that can go wrong during the first 3 years that are not covered by the basic 3/36 warranty but are covered by the MaxCare Lifetime warranty?
