Yea, that's a bit much to repair. When pieces are missing it's not so easy. I got quoted 1470$ or so to replace my front bumper again. I'm getting a second opinion on the strut that's bent. I'm still getting the lift kit though one way or another.

I received an email from Sarah at Exp-One today. James has two CAD designs in work. The difficulty with this particular bumper design has been how to work around the headlights. First design works around oem mounting location. The second one incorporates the headlights into the bumper. I'm going down to the shop on Friday so they can take more measurements and photos. I'll see if I can sneak a peek at the designs so the community can have a teaser.

Happy trails
I met with James at Exp-One today. The design is looking kind of cool and mean (bad ass). It is still a work in progress. Probably will not have a prototype next month.*sad*

Just the front for now until the first couple are built, then maybe the rear. I promised not to release any photos.

It is based off of a GMC design, then modified to fit the KL contours. Winch mounts, hi-lift Jack points, and shackle points. Now that I've seen the two designs, I like the one that incorporates the headlights. Much cleaner and more natural looking. See attached hand sketch. Not the best, but hopefully you get the idea.

James' main concern was the washer reservoir, which has to be located. We discussed his ideas and some of mine. I also enlightened him about the OE air intake, which also needs to be removed.

Nancy has been taking contact info for all calls and emails. She promised to contact everyone when the design was complete.

Toyota, FJ, Jeep, etc. bumpers from Exp-One are on the order of $1500. Price out all the plastic parts from MOPAR and you'll find metal is pretty reasonable protection for your TH investment. Ask @len1304 about the cost of bumpers.

The key part of your statement is what "I [you] want to pay". Improvements are not free. It is an option, which means you don't have to buy it.

Yea lol. I am on bumper number 3 now. And that's not the "complete" bumper. It's everything that isn't painted basically. So, if the bumper costs 1500$ and insurance is going to pay 1400$ to replace the factory parts I'll tell them I'm doing a sell repair (assuming damage is just cosmetic) and buy the new offroad bumper which should be more durable in the future and give more tire clearance. Even if the approach angle doesn't get improved, just opening up the wheel wells in front of the tires can increase capability.

Thank you for your sponsorship of this, SnowHawk! Was anything mentioned about designing in compatibility with the technology package?

Yep, there will be a little cutout for your sensors. I'm guessing you will specify said package when you order your bumper. Similar to winch or no winch, hoop or no hoop, etc.

@Snowhawk2015 Will this be compatible with non-TH models? Those of us with the clunky Latitude bumper could really benefit a lot from this
