MODERATOR EDIT: Poll above. Please fill out your available info. All KL bumpers come with winch mount, fog light cut outs, hi-lift jack points and clevis brackets. Please note, to view poll you will need to access it via a mobile browser or from a computer. Poll is not available via TapaTalk.

I'm starting this thread to determine interest in a new bumper design for all 2014-2017 Cherokee KL variants. Last Fall I floated this idea past the wonderful folks at Expedition One. See attached files. Now, as the design is progressing, Sarah and James would like to know how much interest there is in the KL community. If you are interested, please send Sarah an email and encourage them to bring the new bumper to market. Please visit the Exp-One website for outstanding examples of their professional craftsmanship.

Happy Trails,
Snowhawk

If they make it with the ability to add a winch that would be great.

If they make it tech package compatible as well, it'll sell. The last survey I took via Facebook across several groups results in upwards of 150 people interested in a full bumper replacement.

isn't there a variant of this sold in australia? all someone really needs to do is get their hands on that design, or see if that company will ship internationally. but to be honest, i saw pictures of it on an actual car and wasn't a very big fan. to each their own.

The one in Australia is a giant roo bar (bull bar). It's an add-on over the original bumper. I'm hoping this design here is a full bumper replacement.

I have a Latitude and this definitely grabbed my attention. That upgrade in clearance and approach angle is major. Is there a render of what this actually looks like? If it isn't absolutely hideous I'd certainly be interested.

It looks like some significant trimming of the existing fascia and fenders will need to happen to make this work, unless the front is redesigned upwards to hold the headlights.

The headlights bolt to the structure under type body, not the bumper. The fog lights however are part of the bumper.

I've been looking at their page, and it all looks like good quality stuff. However, cheapest I see is a study bumper for the JK with no hoop. Anything with a hoop is basically $1100+.
It may be badass, but it may be out of my price range. I guess we'll have to see.

@Snowhawk2015 like several have mentioned, I would be interested, depending on price, and if it is compatible with the tech/safety package. It also should have a location to mount a winch.

I've been considering attempting a design, but I just haven't gotten up the gumption to do anything!

Ouch! That's going leave a mark. Maybe we need a skid plate or reinforcement for the lower control arms. Yours look almost as bad as mine.

The rear bumper design would replace the rear fascia, tow hook, and hitch (if installed). It could have integrated shackle points, built in rear lights and a std towing hitch. At that point, a skid plate for the muffler and exhaust pipe could be entertained.

It's great to see all the support. Thanks.

I would definitely be interested. Too bad there's no way to keep and integrate the existing distinctive red front recovery hooks exposed in the bumper fascia vice noisy shackles. But I would welcome the increased approach angles and hidden winch with an integrated brush bar option.

Aluminum option or are we talking steel?

Hey John,
I agree, the red recovery hooks are one of the items that attracted me to the TH. If the rear bumper doesn't pan out, I have plans to modify my hitch and add a 2nd rear hook.

As for shackle noise, I never drove around with the shackles flopping around; only installed them when needed. They also make easy on/off rubber isolators if you need the shackles on for the daily commute. ;) P.S. I've already bought red shackles.

Happy trails.

Front armor bumper

It's real guys, we're finally getting great bumpers! Everyone go check out Expedition one www.exp-one.com and shoot them an email. I talked with them out at Easter Jeep safari and was told they have the jeep CAD files and are in the drawing process, I was also told the more demand they see the quicker it will happen. Pic of my Friends Tacoma with one of exp-one's front bumpers. All Credit to Snowhawk2015 for getting this ball rolling!
