What about people outside of the US, who don't have the 3G data connection? Can we get the update via flashing from USB, like previous updates?

I'm afraid they may be under a gag order on this. We've tried several times to get info, any info, and no luck. They are not to blame, it's higher up.
You know this already but the JeepCares team is there for US FCA customers only. We (Canada) are roughly 10% of the North American market, so we don't matter, it seems.

It's pretty obvious the updates will eventually make it to the UConnect site (and Wi-tech at dealerships) for download. Would have been nice of them to mention it though. Can't believe after all time this we've known and made noise on all the forums, not a single word out of them yet. They really don't want us to know, or... they don't know themselves when exactly they'll make them available to everyone. Either way, letting us know would put all of this to rest..

Yup. I've got a call into Jeep CS, and an email and neither have been returned. It's like anyone who knows anything about the fact that the connectivity features are only available on US equipment has been let go or something. I really had hoped that FCA would be a lot more nimble that the carcass left behind by M-B.

I'm down in MI next week, I'll swing by a dealership and see if they have the update available to flash.

It's very unlikely they will have it. But even if they did, I wouldn't touch it. The update we get may be different because of the feature differences. The risk of bricking your radio would be slim, but I wouldn't chance it.
In a way I'm not that upset we don't have the cellular connectivity feature up here. The 3G tech behind it is so outdated right now... However, it would be very nice of them to include us in the next generation of radios, and not doing so would be a clear sign they don't give a __ about our market (meaning us).

Clear as mud. I have never had an active UConnect Access subscription. I do have a vehicle equipped with UConnect Access connected services, and I have a cellphone in my vehicle that's connected to UConnect via Bluetooth.

However, I have never received such a message prompting me to accept an over-the-air UConnect update. I wonder if there is a system setting I need to have turned on or something.

Yeah, I'm gobsmacked they didn't go with an LTE radio for the radio. Then again, considering the lead time most automakers seem to be stuck in (years), it's not surprising. When the specs were drawn up and agreed on, I'm betting 3G was still the dominant connection flavour. Automakers seem unable to change paths quickly, even on something as inconsequential (to the overall operation of the vehicle) as what broadband radio to choose. ****, the OS is QNX, driver models and interfaces are reasonably well known. It would be even better if they ported the system to Linux at this point. Just about all the broadband radio suppliers have stable Linux drivers. The development could certainly be a lot agiler.

Radios/Infotainment centres could run on commodity x64 parts or ARM cpus. A lot more grunt without paying for it.

Hi Alfrik,

Because Canadian vehicles are not equipped with the 3G connection, your vehicles will continue to receive flashes that can either be downloaded onto a USB or be performed at the dealership.

Any idea when we will start to actually see the update. Seems a lot of people on this forum and I have not seen anyone post they actually have been updated. Just curious

No, we are not told when each customer will receive the update. We do know that they are released in waves, and have been regional thus far.

When can we expect to see the non-OTA (IE a USB flash update) become available?
