To anyone who has done the 8.4RA3/RA4 upgrade

Has anyone been experiencing problems with the Uconnect apps and registration that have done the upgrade from a 5.0? Every time I press the Uconnect app button and try to register it, it tries to connect to the 3G network but always fails. Is there anything I need to get to make this work?

Yes, since you did not have Access before, your jeep is not equipped with a 3G antennna. I don't know what all components you need to add to activate the service, if it's even possible.

Ya I have done same thing on upgrade. I get same error when trying to register. I was however able to call Uconnect Customer Service through the Assist Icon. So even though Im not hooked to a antenna the call went through. I hung up before talking to them, just wanted to see if it would call out.

I actually called and spoke to Rep today, she first told me you can't put a 8.4 in a Jeep that has a 5.0. I laughed and said, "thats funny Im talking to you on one I already did" she was like, O really. I then proceeded to tell her how it was done and was curious if I can activate a Uconnect account to try some of the features. She said no, I then asked about OTA Updates that are coming, she told me that there is a new one that the dealer can do, I asked her it is the 16.13.13 update, she said ya thats the one, told her I already downloaded it and did update. To say the least they don't seem to be very knowledgable about the system they are supposed to be supporting. So will see what happens with the new OTA update.

This is what I have been experiencing since my first vehicle that came with Uconnect: my 2006 Jeep Commander. They are clueless. Everytime I call, throughout all these years, subsequent vehicles and Uconnect upgrades they are all clueless! I believe that all of the Uconnect Reps have a degree in Weather. Being a Weatherman is the only job that I can think of where you can lie and get away with it, and not have a clue what you are talking about. There is an overabundance of people with degrees in Weather. So, they go for their second choice: being a Uconnect Rep.
