Key fob and cell were placed in exact location as yesterday in passenger seat, window cracked the same as well. I have NO clue here how or why that happened yesterday, but it did? I do know it happened so for safety sake i'm keeping my fob in my pocket as I was an hour from home with cell locked in running car as well. I just have no explanation here guys.

Is it possible you bumped the lock button on the door when getting out? just thinking out loud.

do you live near Graeagle? I love that place. My parents live there.

This is what I was thinking too. Bumped the lock button when you got out and when the door closed it locked the doors thinking it was locking you in.

You should give that a test try @firedude.

Anything is possible at this point, but don't recall my hand anywhere near the lock/unlock buttons? I got in set the keys in passenger seat, started the vehicle then got out and shut the door. Not sure where Graeagle is? I'm in the southern Sierra Nevada (Sequoia Nat Forest) south of Camp Nelson and Ponderosa.

Yeah I'll give it a try. Sure has me mystified :/ No matter what I did today testing the doors didn't lock. Either way one needs to be careful as locking the fob in the car along with your cell isn't real swift lol. It would NOT let me in period. That's the scary part. I was very lucky I had the drivers side window cracked just enough to get that stiff piece of wire down to tap the unlock button. It didn't take much so makes me wonder now if i did hit it somehow getting out?

Its a little town in the mountains above Reno on the CA side. about an hour north of Tahoe. Population is like 800. no traffic lights in entire town. So beautiful there. cant wait to get the trailhawk out there.

My wife tried this at lunch. When she came back and parked she rolled the window down enough to reach in and unlock it. Left the fob in the driver seat and got out with it running. She said it was maybe 10 seconds and it locked. We have a late 16 that hasn't had any updates.

OK yeah I'm way south end. I'm near the Kern River area.

Sounds exactly what happened to me! That 10 second timing seems to be about what it took mine. I couldn't replicate the issue today though? Weird stuff....

My Latitude is a 16 with a build date of 5-16 purchased in July last year and to my knowledge has had no updates.

This makes me think it's a safety feature so your KL won't get stolen if you run in to the store or something and leave the FOB inside with the vehicle running. Think of that scenario and some dude jumps in and the FOB is there...it's now his Cherokee.

Sucks if, like you, the FOB and cell phone are inside, but I guess the safety of not having your KL stolen outweighs the inconvenience in the eyes of the designers of the system....

rather simple, really. If I get out of the car, and the keys are in the ignition , I always put the window down wide enough to open the door. Otherwise keys are always in my pocket. Duh!
