Very nice write-up @JeepKL! This has me thinking about 1" spacers with new rims with a more negative offset. My OE black satin rims are taking a beating since they're flush with the tire. A more dished or concave rim would be desired.

Yes, 31mm - 25.4mm = +5.6mm, i.e. moving in the negative direction (but positive wrt the wheel geometry). Hence, the reason for the attachment.

Spacers + negative offset wheels ? You know that negative offset means tires sticking out more, right ? The KLs have a +31 to +45mm offset range. That is positive offset, and adding a spacer to that diminishes the offset ; a 1" spacer on a +31mm offset wheel would mean a resulting offset near zero and a tire sticking out more by one inch. Going with anything more *outside* would likely add to much strain on the hub/steering/suspension.

Edit to add : wheels taking a beating because they are *flush with the tires* simply means the rim is wide relatively to tire width, and has nothing to do with offset whatsoever... What you would want here is the smallest rim width that accepts your tires. TireRack has tire specs where you can see recommended rim width range for any tire.

Nice job with the spacers and video.

Just a few observations : when you talked about the supplied lug bolts, you said they are 19mm with an actual 17mm head, and that is incorrect. They are in fact 12mm bolts with 17mm heads, and the OEM bolts are 12mm with a 19mm head. Bolt description always goes with the diameter of the threaded part (12mm here). Our lug bolts are actually M12 X 1.25 bolts, and head size is secondary. The OEM bolts have 19mm heads because they are capped, to make them look good. But those caps are easily torn/twisted, especially when handled with impact tools.
You said the new lug nuts are 19mm : that is head size. Are they M12 X 1.25 like OEM or are they the more common 1/2 -20 type ? That would mean the studs are 1/2" instead of 12mm and I've seen that on some spacers I think. 1/2"-20 offers more choices for lug nuts too. And if you do have 1/2"-20 nuts, then head size would be more like 3/4" (19mm would be very close though).

^^^ Thanks for the clarification. The studs match the OEM M12 X 1.25 but I just told BORA to give me matching lug nuts for the studs which were 19mm.

Gotcha. That's actually the safer route to take, if you ever sell the Jeep with the spacers on, it's less confusing / less possibility for screwing up, for the unaware. Going 1/2"-20 simply allows more choices and cheaper prices for nuts. And it slightly bigger than 12mm so no worries as far as fastener strenght.

Eyjoy the new look !

Do you have a lift on your Trailhawk and do you have stock tires?

^^^ No Lift, Stock Tires. Very slight rub under full compression and steering lock.
