Question Plasti Dip Chrome

Hey all, I plasti dipped my chrome today. I'm not done yet. I am going to put another coat or two on after work tomorrow, as well as dip the 7 grille pieces. I have a question though… what is the best way to go about blacking out the "Cherokee" letters? Should I remove them, dip and then re-apply with new 3M adhesive? I'm honestly thinking about just de-badging my car and calling it good. What do you think I should do?

I taped a square area around emblem. Then 5-6 coats and then peel it away It should pull away very easy around letters. Use a toothpick to get it out in small areas. Many YouTube videos on it.

I vote de-badge... that's going to be my route once I get brave enough to try and remove one of the badges.

I'm definitely nervous to remove the badges. I'm afraid of what the paint will look like underneath.

Same here. That, and I'm afraid I won't be able to get all the adhesive off cleanly.

This is exactly how i did mine, works like a charm. Just take your time peeling out the small areas inside the letters with the toothpick. Also, go slow when peeling away. If you peel to quickly it'll ALL peel off, learned that the hard way and had to redo it lol

Removed my badges today, heated with hair dryer, sawed between badge and paint with fishing line, removed adhesive with goo-gone citrus, washed and waxed...paint was perfect underneath badges.

I don't like the look, however I do like the color pages! I think your special look will be gone at about 16 mph.

Good luck and I'm sure this "quick reply" will be of great help! I do not vote for de-badging, everyone will think it's a KIA... I am sure this too is a great help?

In reality looks like you've really done a great job. I'd be leery about dipping and using new 3M will they really stick? Can you get blacked out "Jeep" letters on ebay and just replace? Don't de-badge, but whatever your decision, good luck!
