Annoying (and useless) message on NAV screen

Today is just an average day in the summer, just in the high 80s, and I get three "Excessive Heat Warnings ending at 4pm" on the NAV screen after each time I start my Cherokee, and each time I have to press a button to get rid of the message. How can I turn these useless weather warnings off?

Its designed to relay warnings from the National Weather Service for the current location of the jeep. I get them all the time and sometimes it can be a pain especially since I'm a stormchaser but it comes in handy. Reason being and I don't know if it's true, the GPS can use the weather data that's been provided to it and try to route away from that if given the chance.

Any way to turn it off? Is it linked to Sirius XM?

Hi fumbling,

The Weather Alerts are linked to Sirius XM however we have passed along customers' concerns with this feature to our Uconnect team so they are aware.

Thanks, does that mean if we cancel Sirius XM the Weather Alerts will no longer come through on the NAV screen?

Can you also pass alongto Sirius XM that it would be best if 1) we could have an option to not receive the updates, or 2) can they just post the update on the screen for say 10 seconds and have it automatically go away instead of having customers press OKAY every time?

Hi fumbling,

We would recommend reaching out to Sirius XM's customer care team for further information regarding Weather Alerts: 1 (866) 635-5027. You can also voice your concerns with the updates when you call this number since we don't have direct contact with them. We have passed this thread (along with others) along to our Uconnect team for review as well.

I cancelled Sirius XM months ago but still get the misplaced warnings. I recall the issue is that the National Weather Service uses a very broad range map so it is easy to get warnings that do not apply. I am in San Diego and get Arizona heat / windstorm warnings. Not that frequent though, perhaps once every couple of months.
I suspect it is linked to the Traffic info and not to the Sirius XM.

Right.... SiriusXM stopped this service long ago. Along with traffic. It is now serviced under the vehicle's manufacturer. For example, traffic and weather are always included with a capable Toyota now where you used to have to have SiriusXM. (You have to pay for U-Connect to keep these in a Jeep).

I am fairly certain that it is a function of U-Connect that may or may not require a subscription.
