Selec-Terrain

Does the Selec-Terrain stay in the mode you select until chnage it, or does it revert to AUTO once vehicle is turned off?

I can see how that makes sense from a fuel economy standpoint, but it seems silly for those of us that are on trails or snow-covered trails.

I always liked that on my Grand Cherokee, I could set to full-time 4wd and leave it there during the winter months.

There could be an option to set it that it stays. Not sure though, I haven't researched it.

As far as I am aware, there is no setting to keep your selec-Terrain in a specific position once the vehicle is turned off.

Also, you still have 4 wheel drive while in auto, I am almost 100% certain. From my experience, the only real noticeable difference is, when you select SNOW, it forces fulltime 4x4 as well as prevents the accelerator from forcing the wheels to spin too quickly. What I mean by that is, if you set it to SNOW, then mash your gas pedal down a fair ways, it wont throttle up very quickly at all, compared to auto, and especially compared to sport.

I take it on compact snow and ice in auto everyday, and never an issue.

Good info about the limiting of the throttle in snow mode. I didn't know that.

Also, you absolutely have 4WD in Auto. The system just detects when you need it, thus helping you on MPGs when you don't. It will kick into 4WD if you hit a rough area.

I drove it in the snow in Auto mode and it performed beautifully. Switch it to Snow if you want - I do if I think of it - but don't worry about not having 4WD if you don't. The Auto mode will get you through.
