better than nothing, but not a great alternative
True. I've read that sometimes people even have to replace all four if one one goes flat. Kaching.

About the only time I've read of someone being thankful for runflat tires was a guy whose wife got a flat while coming over a mountain pass at night in a rainstorm.

I have used the spare tire in my vehicles only twice in 33 years.

Always have either had cars with a spare, or runflats!

Spare tyre for me is not a option......kinda ludicrous not including a space on a "off road" vehicle....even if its a dirt trail!

Well, to be fair, the off-road version of the Cherokee (Trailhawk) comes with a full-size spare.

I agree that all cars should at least come with a donut spare, though.

My wife ordered the compact spare with her FWD limited, cost $195. She said even if we never use it she just feels better having one. I sometimes use the spare if I decide I want to rotate the tires. I usually go to a tire store (won't mention them so as not to look like an advertisement) for oil changes they give free tire rotation with oil change so don't have to rotate that often. It's when my wife takes the vehicle to the dealership for an oil change that I need to rotate the tires since I won't pay $24.95 for the tires to be rotated.

Enjoy the ride!

Getting rid of 50 lbs of dead weight in the trunk helps the MPG, and with the CAFE standards tightening the spares were one of the first things to go. My CTS had a big old subwoofer where the spare tire should have been, along with an air compressor and fix-a-flat. Anything that needs more than that combo, you were calling On-Star.

I had run-flats on my Corvette, and one of the first things I did was get rid of them because they didn't handle for crap. Never added a spare, for obvious reasons.

Honestly, I doubt most people in this day and age would even put on a spare tire themselves.

My Limited came with a spare...no charge, not even listed on the sticker. Salesman said that Gubment Motors started this a while back. I wasn't sure my car had a spare until I popped the cargo cover.

May never need it but I'm glad it's there.

My Limited came standard with a full-size spare, though a different brand than the other 4 tires. I've asked my dealer to swap the spare for one of the same brand. A full-size spare is preferable to the other options, in my opinion, even with the loss of some storage.

As far as I know (darn thing isn't here yet), our North is coming with a full size spare because we got the tow package.
Will miss having a real spare though, I think doing a 5 tire rotation on our Wrangler definitely helped with our tire wear.
Hmm, I wonder what an extra rim would cost so we could do a 5 tire rotation

Mine came with a full size spare. I didn't get the storage tray that fits in the spare tire well though. Good trade.
