4-cyl TH - fuel economy really improving

I know there have been a ton of threads on this.
But in the last couple of weeks, my TH is starting to really settle down on the fuel economy.

Tonight, with us finally having some cold temps (yes, 60's is cold for here), I can now drive without the AC and the windows up.

So, here's the surprise results. I filled it up this afternoon, drove about 15 miles worth of city streets, and the rest on cruise control on the highway (65mph±). When I pulled into the garage, I clicked over to see how far the trip was, and to my surprise saw this: 29.0mpg over a 50-mile trip!

For a 4200lb vehicle with AT tires and no low-hanging front bumper... this is why I bought this vehicle.

Speed is definitely key. The front facia on the TH is not the best for fuel efficiency, and when you start going faster, the MPG drops fast.

On the highway, I agree that the 4 and 6 versions should be about the same for fuel efficiency.

Around town is the big advantage on the 4-cyl.

Awesome! I was getting around 27 with my Latitude I-4, got a K&N air filter and it went up to 29.9 on the highway. I drive a 350 mile trip regularly and next time my goal is to hit 30mpg, shouldnt be that hard of a goal but man that 29.9 would not budge last week!

Related to speed, is wind. My V6 TH does not like side or headwinds (especially of the midwest variety). On a windy day, it's easily a 2-3 MPG hit at steady state cruising.

I had a 2014 4 latitude and would get up to 35 on Florida's flat roads at speeds of 55 and 60 just traded it in on a limited v6 with all options can hit 32 on the same roads. my question is the range miles with full tank and 30 plus average it shows 265 to empty not 450 anyone else have this?

Our V-6 regularly gives us 24+ mpg when loaded to the hilt on long trips in the mountains, and a tad more when driving around this small town. Fortunately we do little stop'n go driving in a city. Our best tankfull was 26 mpg with the car loaded for travel, but on fairly flat 2 lane roads at moderate speeds. I'm a very happy camper with those results!
