As an update to my earlier post:

Just got back from picking up my '14 V6 TH from the dealer with the new transmission and I could tell a night and day difference by the time I pulled out of the parking lot. Very smooth gear changes even at crawling speeds (i.e. stop and go traffic), for the first time I actually didn't know what gear it was in while driving. Also, can confirm a 3-2 downshift at around 7-8 mph consistently with immediate throttle response when I hit the accelerator.

Bottom line is if you are experiencing any issues with your transmission get a STAR case opened ASAP either through @JeepCares or calling Jeep HQ directly (pretty sure you can do that).

Oh yes, absolutely. But what happened before is if you shifted while still slightly rolling, the transmission would "ignore" your request until you'd actually reached 0kph, and then shift smoothly. Most automatic transmissions work that way.
But now, it'll shift even if you're still rolling slightly. I'm definitely not going to test to see how fast you can go and still reproduce this, because it's definitely not a good thing.

So far it is shifting like a dream. Next weekend I will be towing my travel trailer into the Blue mountains of Oregon and back (400 miles round trip) I will use this as a small test to see how things go.

I brought a used 14' cherokee sport with about 27,000 miles on it 1 day ago, and I am experiencing most of the concerns that are discussed on some threads. The rough shifting from gears 1-4, occasionally the car balks forward in those gears. When I decelerate and take my foot off the gas at speeds above 40 you would think i put my foot on the brakes. Also it takes a while for the car to actual accelerate. Now when I brought this car from the dealer I first went to the chevy department for a equinox, but I liked the cherokee and the chevy sales man didn't hesitate to sale me the car. The salesman just mentioned the basics specs of the car; and the only thing he mentioned about the transmission was that it was a 9 speed; nothing about the AL. I only found that out when I started searching about the concerns the car was giving me. I love the car except for the transmission concerns, but honestly I'm starting not to want it anymore with all the complaints about the transmission. I'm just stuck and came here for a bit of advice, I'm really just mad at my self for not researching the car prior.

So I plan on going to the dealership tomorrow, but the jeep department. I don't know if I qualify for a buy back since I only had the car 2 day. I'm also thinking about telling them to reset the codes on the transmission, and check for updates. I read that you have to train the AL, and that it is best to train it on long road trips. Tuesday afternoon I'm driving my car 5 hours to Pittsburgh, to look at apartments before I go back to school. My final concern is did any of these problems get fixed for most people.

The good news is that the 14's have a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty on it and it can be fixed. You can even give a shout out to our own Jeep rep Jeepcares on line here if you have issues with the dealer.

That warranty is only for US though, export users like us in Aus just get a 3 year 60,000km (35,000 mile??) warranty on everything...
