It seems pretty sad that the only option for "fixing" the inability for a downshift to 2nd gear is a physical replacement of the entire transmission. I got the latest updates on my 2015 transmission, and now I'm seeing the no-2nd issue too. There's a similar issue where if I'm moving forward and plop it into Reverse before coming to a complete stop, there's a gawdawful clunk when it shifts. That's new too.
But on the flipside, with the software update I find that it upshifts a bit sooner on highway driving, which is showing me a noticeable improvement in gas mileage. It's still weird though, because I can drive down one road at 90kph and have it in 8th gear, then hit the highway and go to 120kph, and it often gets "stuck" at 7th gear. Weirdest algorithm I've seen.

I would think shifting into Reverse before coming to a complete stop would be a "no,no" and could damage your transmission depending
on how fast you are moving forward when doing that. I try to not shift into reverse until I am a complete stop or from reverse to a forward gear until I am at a complete stop..
(you can find that warning not to shift to Reverse until after a complete stop on page 452 in the 2015 owners manual)-sure it would be all KL model year manuals.)
