Here is the link to the thread I have started to log my issues since, as it turns out, they're not related to the S55 recall.

I am taking my KL in Thursday for this recall and anything else that needs to be updated. The service department scheduler said it is going to take 3-4 hours to complete the work and therefore I'm getting a loaner car for the day. Did this recall really take that long for anyone? Not that I mind, I just found it odd that it would take that long for some reprogramming, as any other time I've had recalls and reprogramming done it's been maybe 2 hours at the most

Last service on mine had 7 updates done. Apparently the dash cluster update takes around 3 hours to run through so yes some are quite long!

Sent via Tapatalk from a small keyboard on my phone with fat thumbs and no glasses...

Cheers, Dave.

I have seen some commented that after this S55 recall the transmission became smoother. Well, I had the R01 recall previously, but didn't really experience the downshift problem some had described. After the S55 recall, I definitely experienced the problem others had described before. When you slow the car down to a very slow speed and suddenly try to accelerate, the car will simply goes to a dead zone, no reaction whatsoever. Wait several second before engine finally responded. I flipped the stick and saw the gear indicator is "2." I do not know the problem happened when it tried to downshift to 2 or when it was in 2!

From experience using ScanGauge, I saw the gear indicator shows the gear that was commanded by either the ECM or TCM computer, and not the gear the transmission is it actually in. In other words, the gear indicator might show 2, but there is usually a slight delay before the shift to second actually completes. It's possible you saw the results of the computer's command, but the transmission was unable to complete the shift for several seconds for whatever reason, and the engine held off until the shift was reported complete.

I had the S55 done quite a while ago and noticed the clunk/bang stopped happening. However, this week we had an adult couple in the back seat with us and got the clunk/bang twice during the one-day trip. Embarrassing. The guy asked how I liked the Jeep and I told him it was great except for the trans. After the Clunk/BANG, he asked: "Is that what you mean." Yep, and there is more. Don't think he is buying a Jeep anytime soon.

Did the additional weight screw with the adaptive learn? Who knows.
