First little bump on my 2017 transmission---

My 2017 has been shifting fine, but yesterday when I was at Sams Club and pulled up to pick my wife up in front of the doors with the "goodies" she purchased I had a problem. I put it in D thinking I would get going as others were waiting to pick up other people in the same area. Well, in D, I didn't go anywhere--just like it was in Neutral and a message came up. I am not sure what the message was as I was in a hurry to get out of there--may have been to go to Park and then something else--but whatever I did, it corrected the problem and I was on my way. I have driven it another 65 miles and no repeats. I did go to my dealership this morning and they checked and no codes appeared. But it said I had an update for the PCM and the TCM so I went ahead and let them do the flashes. On the way home--NO PROBLEMS- and as fine as it was shifting it was the same at least and maybe a little better, but like I said it had been great since I purchased it. The updates did not cause me to lose the 3-2-1 downshift when coming to a stop. Hopefully just a one time anomaly.

Was the door open at the time? Opening the door with the engine on automatically turns on the parking brake

Can't think of anything else. Did you hear the engine rev up in neutral or was there a body shake as if the brakes were on ,before putting it into park and back into drive?

I am pretty sure my bride of 47 years was in and the doors closed---we both always hook up our seat belts too before we move, but a good question, but I don't think that was it. I will have to ask her if she opened the door again after entering the vehicle, but don't think she did. (that is a slight possibility) Yeah, it took me a period of time when I have been backing up not to open the door to see better--but that was about 4 years ago, but I guess I could still mess up Oh, no body shake---just like I was in neutral but the D was illuminated.

Well you got a brand new 2017 so if anything you are good for three more years of factory warranty, that still sounds like a bizarre quark , I think maybe it was the ESS not kicking in? Funny how the page5 of the dash menu doesn't save error messages if the problem goes away

Is it possible you had the auto eBrake on and it was reminding you to apply the foot brake prior to auto release?

and I have been gone a while .. did you trade your old KL on the 17 or add a new one to the KL lineup?

My e-brake never auto releases. I have to give it a slight amount of pressure to the gas pedal, and it will release. I do this with my foot on the brake and seat belt fastened. Occasionally this doesn't work, and I have to push the e-brake release down to get it to release.

Unless I'm missing something, isn't that the way it's supposed to work?

I attempted a couple of things today to see if maybe I did do something to cause my concern yesterday. I had it in D and opened the door and think the E brake came on, but it went off as soon as I just put a little pressure to the pedal. I know my warning didn't say anything about any door being open yesterday so just hoping as I said that it was a one time anomaly.

Although unlikely, maybe some crazy factors made your traction control kick in.
