Transmission replacement

Well been a while since I've been on here...little backstory we bought our '14 latitude used from a local dealer with 20k or so on it.been a great vehicle to this point. Recently we took it in for a recall, when we did the service desk told my wife, there were computer updates the vehicle hasn't received yet.So we scheduled it for that and since we've had those done the transmission hasn't shifted the same.It started having a serious delay in going into gear from a stop.So scheduled again for a look with the dealer and they called today to inform us the transmission needs replaced...luckily it's still under warranty. I'm not to thrilled as the vehicle isn't worth near what we paid for it and has less than 40k on it still.

Sorry to hear this. I believe that they would have replaced the transmission even if you were out of warranty. At least, they should.

Not really sure what you're complaining about. Are you complaining that the updates caused your problems? That the transmission needed to be replaced? That the replacement was under warranty? That the car isn't worth as much as when you bought it? Since you don't say when you bought it or what you paid or how the car is configured I'm not sure what to make of what you're saying, or even the point of your post.

You will be in great shape after the trans replacement. A 2014 with an iffy transmission is worth far less than one with a new trans. Glad they are taking care of you.

I guess I'm just upset that I spent over 20k for a vehicle that hasn't been owned for a year and the transmission is all of the sudden in need of repair.dont get me wrong I'm glad it's covered and hopefully it lasts. But seems it's a common issue, and they would he a recall.

Again, since you've provided no information about the vehicle and are vague about the price it's impossible to tell if you got a good buy or not. The fact is that there were some transmission problems in the 14's as the new Cherokee's first model year (my 2014 transmission has been problem-free), not enough for a recall, but I don't see why you care whether there was a recall since your repair is covered by the warranty. A recall is basically an free extension of the warranty. Nobody likes to deal with car problems, but you bought a vehicle under warranty, and the manufacturer is standing behind the warranty to fix a problem. I still don't see what your point is. Is this your first car??

Wow...no it's not it's only my third I've bought newer than 2014.ive had about 30 vehicles over 10 years of driving. I guess I expected better for what I paid.which was around 21k if I recall correctly.

Some Cherokees have had transmission issues. It appears that a very mall portion have been effected; it seems to be random to a degree. Many vehicles built before the calendar year 2015, including model year 2015's build in the year 2014 have seemingly been the most susceptible to transmission issues. If Jeep takes care of you and replaced your transmission, you should be in good shape. The vast majority of the KL's have functioned properly and the owners have considered them to be supreme vehicles, myself included. Sorry for your issues, but it sounds like you are being taken care of and will be good to go for many many miles down the road.

I don't think the OP will ever be happy. He's having the transmission replaced for nothing and he still "expected better." Maybe he prefers a car that's sold without a warranty because it's guaranteed to never need repairs. I wish him luck finding one.

If you get a new car every 4 months (per the OP's statement) who needs a warranty?
