There may not be a "new version", per se. There are hundreds of thousands of 2014 and early 2015 transmissions that don't have the C-Clutch snap ring problem. Maybe better viewed as a huge batch of flawed transmissions installed in some of the 2014/2015 Cherokees (KL) and the 200 (UF). On the other hand, how would I know ? The following is from one of the later of a string of TSBs related to the bad transmissions:

*KL vehicles equipped with a 2.4L Engine (Sales Codes ED6/ED8) and
a 948TE 9 speed automatic transmission (Sales Codes DFH or DFJ).
KL vehicles built after March 02, 2015 (MDH 0302XX) equipped with a
3.2L Engine (Sales Code EHB) and a 948TE 9 speed automatic
transmission (Sales Codes DFH or DFJ).
UF vehicles equipped with a 2.4L Engine (Sales Codes ED6, ED8, EDD,
or EDE) and a 948TE 9 speed automatic transmission (sales code DFH).
UF vehicles equipped with 3.6L Engine (Sales Code ERB) and a 9HP48
9 speed automatic transmission (Sales Code DF5).

I'll chime in on transmission replacement for my 2014 Cherokee.

I got into a hate triangle between the dealership, Chrysler Customer Care, and myself. The dealership claimed that they couldn't reproduce my erratic shifting and loss of 3-2 downshift, however I refused to pick the vehicle back up until it was resolved. I demanded that the vehicle be bought back because it was unsafe to drive, which isn't a stretch after having countless near misses with oncoming traffic when I couldn't get a downshift as needed. Eventually, Customer Care sent out a corporate tech to perform a diagnostic test on the vehicle - to show that there was some internal clutch defect. I got a replacement transmission and I have noticed YUGE improvement. I can't get more details than that, but basically after putting up enough of a fight, the new transmission replacement seems to do the ticket for me. No sort of software update helped the vehicle drive as it should. So, 31 months into my lease I feel like it's basically good to go. Not sure how I feel about that.

How do I check if my transmission is plagued... my car has less than 300 miles and today in the mid of traffic light it took over 3 second to engage from N to D
This is extremely disappointing... The feeling of joy of having a new car is turning to stress and worry!!!

Why were you in neutral in the middle of an intersection?

My build is mid 2014 and my tranny always takes about 3 seconds to shift into gear. You just have to plan for it.

Yes it is lol... why on earth would you put your transmission in neutral at a red light... it's not a manual.

Agreed. Should not be in neutral when stopping at an intersection. It doesn't save fuel or wear and tear, all it does is reduce your reaction time when the lights change. No it shouldn't take 3 seconds to change into drive though, mine takes less than a second.

Would fail your licence if you did it during the test.

Due to a few variables in how the system handles idle fluctuations during AC Cycling and Cooling Fan on load /no load conditions, you are creating more work for the system and longer response times.
I would loose that habit ASAP.

This is not the old wet clutch transmission of the 70's you could slam into drive and stomp on the gas...the clutches and software take time to do their jobs. Shifting into neutral at an intersection may seem somehow like a good thing to do, but it is not with modern transmissions that are so software driven. I came to the KL from a manual transmission vehicle and it was odd to not shift into neutral at stops, if that is your case, you do need to break the habit.
