Mopar Skid Plates

Skid plates came in today. Still waiting on the long ones that go from front to back, part number 82214107, I guess they are on back order till June. I had to buy these at the dealer, so I had to pay retail. I looked online and shipping for all of was about $600, crazy. Also included is the trail hitch and bezel. I probably won't get around to install them till May, since I am still living in a hotel.
I am missing one bolt from the suspension plate. I have attached the image, is this something I can pick up at home depot. The bag was ripped open and probably fell out of the box. The box was pretty beat up with a lot of holes in it.

First impression. Skid plates look to be heavy duty and are heavy. After looking at images and install instructions, you kind of lose reality with the size and weight of these things. Cannot wait to get these installed.

Highly unlikely.

I have found the home store's hardware selections to be less and less useful for anything other than building a deck. Ace Hardware or a local Fastenal may have something, but doesn't the dealer you bought them from owe you the bolt? You already paid for it.

Looks good and I am sure it will be a fun project. Don't forget the wiring harness to top off that hitch.

The bolts you could try Menards. Just be sure to get non rusting and the proper grade bolt for the plates.
I got the rusp proof proper grade bolts there for my ball coupler on my boat trailer when I converted to a 2".
You might want to ask the dealer as I am sure they can help you out through Mopar.
Their threading might be unique.
Good luck and be sure to report back on your project...................

Originally I wasn't planning on actually towing with the trailer hitch, and I just wanted it as a tow point in case I got stuck in the sand. But after some careful consideration, I might actually need it to tow a small trailer. I am going to pick up the dual connector to fit the hitch bumper and then wire the Curt four wire connector into it. That way it looks stock, but the RV side of the connector won't work. It will probably cost an extra $50, but I won't have wires handing out the back of the car.

This is what I used. Plugs right into OEM dual plug. Then u can just cap the unused ones and connect other 4. Works perfect. Also check eBay for plug. I found one for under 30 shipped.

The dual plus is $32, plus that connector $18, and then the Curt wiring harness is around $46. When everything is said and done, I will have $3k in aftermarket parts and the jeep is only a month old.

I did same wiring on mine. Deff nice look over just wire hanging there. Make sure u run that wire to battery before putting on your plates. Lol. That was biggest pain of whole job.

Having installed all skid plates myself on my sport KL....the back ones are easy (long side ones and the gas tank skids), as is the big pan under the oil pan and engine....front - two piece - plate is a bitch unless you can get your front fascia off. which I did not. Still managed to get the plates on but it involved an hour or so of installing nutserts by 'feel'. Lots of fun. Beer is recommended. Don't expect them to add value to your vehicle. Make use of them by grinding over some rocks on a trail somewhere. They work real good. Heavy duty is right. I wish the rest of the car were as solid as these plates.
