2014 cherokee trailhawk wheel/tire fittment

new here..

I am thinking about beefing up my 2014 Cherokee Trailhawk to 18"

wheels and tires..

I understand the bolt pattern is 5 x 110 and the offset is 45 ( for the 18" )

please correct me if I am mistaken..

the tires I want to be bit beefier as the 17"s are a bit whimpy..

has anyone successfully put 18" wheels and tires on without them rubbing ?

thanks

mike

That depends on the size of the tire you will be running. Lots of sizes in an 18 inch tire. The stock limited wheels are 18inch so it is possible.

Rim size matters but it's the combination of Tire wall size and rim that makes the overall diameter. You can have 18's with low profile tires be smaller then 17's, the Cherokee being a prime example. 18's on the limited are smaller diameter then the 17's on the TH.

Check out the Goodyear Duratec thread and see tires on the 17" wheels rubbing. Basically it is the maxed out size you can go.

I remember the days when we ran 15" wheels and bead locks on the rubicon trail.

I went from the stock 17's to the limited size 18's without issues.

Just go to tirerack and select the limited in your vehicle options, it will list all 18's that fit a KL.

trailhawk wheel fittment

thanks mate it seems the offset of the wheel is now going to be the issue..

the 17's are 17 x 7 with 5-110 bolt pattern with a 31 offset

the 18's are 18 x 7 1/2 with 5-110 bolt pattern and a 45 offset.

hard to find wheels with similar characteristics..

This change in offset and wheel width will only move the rim forward. You get the same clearance at the back of the wheel (which is important) and a wider tire that extends outwards.

Should be no problems.

those are almost identical in backspacing. "The offset doesn't have to match the OE offset exactly, but it needs to be within a reasonable range and must clear the suspension. Keep in mind that because offset is measured from the wheel's centerline, a 7" wide wheel with 40mm offset will fit differently than a 7.5" wheel with the same offset." You should be fine with either one. Just be careful with the aspect ratio of the tires for the 18's. the bolt pattern for the trailhawk Wheel is 5x110 offset of +42.
