Cost of 48000 Km Service

My 2014 Trailhawk is due for a 48000K service. When I rang up to book this in with my dealer he said this was a " big" one and the cost was going to be A$ 830.00 !

I would not have thought that the 48K service was considered a major, and was wondering if anyone else has comparable information on what they paid ?

Big one... gotta laugh. Have a look in the warranty/service booklet and it will tell you what is required, but its definitely not worth that amount. From memory that may include rear diff and ptu fluid and prob air and cabin filters.

I thought 40's were always considered the first major for any manufacturer. 40,000 was considered a major for our WK2, our WH and also our Mazda and Holden.

Yes but what is Major when there is no timing belt, a sealed for life transmission and 100,000km spark plugs?

Had a look and 48000 does replace air cleaner, does inspect front suspension, checks gearbox fluid level (in a sealed transmission???) And replaces cabin filter plus the usual oil change. It also lists changing brake fluid. Definitely would not consider it major though.

It is not a Major service, that is 60 months / 120,000km where they also replace accessory drive belt, timing belt (uses a chain so thats interesting), rear diff amd ptu fluids. Soark plugs are also set to be replaced at 108,000km

My 40,000/24 month was done yesterday, but because I only have 26 odd on the clock, they checked everything, but treated it like the 30,000 and only charged me $389.

Tez - How many actual K's do you have on the clock?

I have posted this in a separate message on this forum however I think it is relevant to add to this conversation. SJETC, you did well with your 40K service cost. My 40K service came in at $756.50. Maybe I had to pay extra for the complimentary coffee I had in the service waiting lounge I have attached a copy of my service report for info.
Cheers
JW
PS I just noted that I paid over $22 for a sump plug gasket. Ouch! I am seriously considering shopping around next time for the 50K service rather than take it back to Jeep.

Wow, makes it worthwhile to find a dealer that offers fixed servicing costs which mine did. $250 per service for first 9 services. The mileage I do means about 3 services a year or thereabouts. 9 x 12,000 which will take me to 108k. I expect to be violated at the 120K service if I still own the car. The other thing the dealer offered was to extend the warranty to 7 years provided I used them for every service. This won't be as extensive as the new car warranty an I haven't checked out what items it won't cover. At this stage, it will be a choice of keeping the Trailhawk, or getting a new one.

Just had the 48K 2 year service done. As I mentioned I'm on a $250 capped price service with the dealer I bought the car from- which is 68 kms from home. When I had the warranty work done after a breakdown a few months back, the dealer who is 15kms away quoted around $675 for that service- oh well, I like driving the TH anyways.
A couple of interesting things transpired when I dropped it in (before retiring to the coffee shop for a 4 hour wait). Service guy advised that the car may need the rotor arm rebalanced- (or re-somethinged) and if it did, $22 if I wanted it. Ok, I'm getting a cheap service anyway- and yep- surprise- it did need it
The next thing he suggested was an engine de-carbon (Whut?) Just a $100. I said yes, but never heard of that puppy before.
End result, the car is going noticeably better - not that I thought it was going sluggish before the service. I took off from the first set of lights when I left the yard using the usual amount of throttle and the wheels started spinning momentarily before the traction control systems kicked in.
Has anyone else been offered the rotor arm and carbon treatment at a service? Something improved the performance of the car- don't know what- might be a combination of a few things.
