Hi Guys, we just bought a new Cherokee Blackhawk 2016 model, today 25/02/2017. We paid $1000 for the extra 2 years Warranty, but it is the Jeep dealership warranty, not the old "Eric Insurance " , but still needs to be serviced every 6 months . On the up side, really love the car, our first jeep. Look forward to reading all your posts.

so there goes half of the servicing costs !

too bad I bought 5 months ago !
My service interval for Petrol is 6 month 12000km not 10k anyway. I also do the 12000km in 6 months so it won't make a huge difference ( spot on 18months old just had the 36000km service)

Hi guys,

Quick question re: Warranty and service intervals. My car is technically due for its next service and I have a letter from the dealer (6 months rolled around) but I'm only at 18500km for the expected 24k. Normally I'd rack up the KM within 6 months but had been away for the past 2 and a half months (have come home today to the letter) and car has been sat in the garage...

I'm wondering if I need to bend over and take the $550 Jeep dealer service asap to ensure no warranty issues or alternatively get my local mechanic to do the 2nd service just this time and then continue to goto the dealer (I generally prefer the piece of mind of taking it to jeep given all the electrics, warranty etc.)

Second one shouldn't be that expensive, mine was around $300 from memory. Personally I hate going to the dealer, but it's like they program it to fault when it's due for a service so that 'you may as well take it to the dealer's' since you need warranty repairs done!

Though just to be different mine was serviced a couple of weeks ago with half a dozen different faults and today it decided not to use stop start as the battery was constantly charging on my 40km trip each way to work.

I have been just going by the dash sensor for oil changes, mine you just had the 36000km one done at just over 18 months old so pretty close to the 6 months anyway
