We regularly tow our horse float and tandem trailer. The horse float with two average horses would be around 1.8 tonnes and the tandem trailer loaded would be close to 2 tonnes. Keep in mind we have the Diesel but I am sure that the V6 Petrol engine would be more than capable of towing as well.
Another long trip for the Limited
Limited for work and play
I don't tow over 2 tonnes due to the braking regulations etc mentioned earlier in this thread.

Hey David, we have the same problem here. I found a work around for that problem. The fuse that controls the rear outlet in the cargo area, you move that from the ignition position to the battery position. The fuse is located in the fuse holder in the engine bay. But once switched to battery all the lights will work as they should without the ignition being on. FCA here in the states is aware of the problem, said it's not normal but they need my jeep and trailer for an extended time to research a fix. I've discussed it with @JeepCares in the past.

I remember those posts, thank you.

We get 2200kg, so I am sailing close to the wind. I really would have preferred the diesel, hopefully, it will be available when I'm up for a new one next year. At this stage, there is still no other car in my price range that I would choose over the TH. The wife might find herself driving a dual cab 4x4 ute if I have concerns about towing this heavy in off road conditions like fire trails etc.

Hi!
I did the change - F81 to F91 from memory.
I see in Europe, the towbar manufacturers insist on (and supply) their kits with cables that go under the car all the way to the battery for the lighting supply. The cables are reasonably heavy too (and in a flexible outer) so could easily be used to charge batteries in the trailers etc I suspect.
Not a bad way to do it I think. I'm not sure how heavy the cables are to the cigarette socket in the rear are in reality. It is listaed as 20A so must be reasonable and ok for a few lights especially if they are LED.

Oliver
