curb mounting

Hi guys,

Just wondering if it is a bad idea to mount the kerb every now and then?

Would it damage anything? I do it a few times

I have a longitude if that makes a difference

I jump curbs a lot for work, but I also do so while driving very slowly (work in road construction). I suppose there's a chance your alignment could be affected over time (but honestly, potholes will do that more so), but every now and then it shouldn't be an issue. If the car has the clearance to hop the curb (here in Wisconsin, standard curb height is 6", so a Cherokee should have plenty of clearance to make it over), there shouldn't be too much of a concern. Like I said, you're likely to do more damage to your tires and/or suspension by going over big potholes at 60mph.

Cheers mate !

Potholes are the worst. it's always too late when you actually notice them and then you have no time to go around them.
The big clunking noise when you drive over them makes me cringe

I hear ya, pal. One of the nice things about driving though is generally we drive on the same roads, so we can anticipate those dreaded potholes, and avoid them with ease. I know of hundreds of potholes or simply badly designed road pieces that I can maneuver my car around. dodging low-sitting manhole covers are sometimes just as bad as potholes.

I hear you - especially hitting them at 80 or a 100 which is the speed limit on a lot of roads where we are. I hate the loud thunk and clunk. I think oh no - that must have caused some damage.
The problem is council's fix is a quick patch which after a decent rain just goes pot-holey again. It's the No 1 complaint in our shire.
