I jump curbs a lot for work, but I also do so while driving very slowly (work in road construction). I suppose there's a chance your alignment could be affected over time (but honestly, potholes will do that more so), but every now and then it shouldn't be an issue. If the car has the clearance to hop the curb (here in Wisconsin, standard curb height is 6", so a Cherokee should have plenty of clearance to make it over), there shouldn't be too much of a concern. Like I said, you're likely to do more damage to your tires and/or suspension by going over big potholes at 60mph.
