Snorkel Installation Thread

The only additional work that needs to be done is a 90 degree 4" silicone coupler to be purchased. I did see at Pep Boys a universal flex hose for intakes that I may try to mate to the factory piping. Will see and update.

Looking good! The hole in the side is a bit scary looking; but those final two pics overcome that -- too bad it messed up your decal. Can't wait to see the inside and final report! Great job so far.

Okay so here are the specs for the parts purchased thus far to continue on with this installation:

The snorkel attachment point that goes through the hole is actually a 3.5" opening. They recommend the 4 inch hole for movement if there ever is any and everything has a little play.

You need a 3.5" to 3" 90 degree silicone elbow to attach to this. The picture below references a 3" intercooler piping kit that I bought for the plumbing. I obviously do not need all of the parts in this, so whatever is left over, I do not mind selling to anyone who will take on this project after me. The parts will come to you assembled with play/movement for adjusting if need be for a fraction of what I paid. If you plan on buying from eBay, these are the item specs:

Title:
UNIVERSAL 8PC 3" ALUMINUM FMIC TURBO INTERCOOLER PIPING+COUPLER DIY KIT BLACK

$88.58 free shipping

Seller: speed_daddy

From here you will tie into the factory boot intake with a 45 degree silicone tube. The exact dimension of this will be revealed to me when I open up the wheel well liner.

Will keep everyone posted with the foam that will be used as a buffer and gap filler shortly. This will be ordered from McMaster Carr.

The technique to get this fitted was to cut the template in halves ( upper and lower ) and use the lower portion. Traces the template to the foam and actually slit the foam down half an inch. So you really only need 1.5" thick foam and not the 2" thick. I still have to drill two holes into the fender on the lower portion of the snorkel and when I tighten those down it will be gapless.

Will use double sided tape to secure to body and snorkel

No plumbing at all this weekend. Didn't foresee the amount of family coming over the whole weekend for the holidays! It's happening soon enough! Before the 17th!
