Snorkel Installation Thread

This thread will document in detail a full install of a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk snorkel. To achieve a full write up, detailed pictures, notes, product images and purchasing locations will also be provided. Dakar fender flares will also be pictured in this thread, but will not be associated with the install.

A mockup picture will be provided this Saturday for references. There was roughly 2 months brainstorming this idea, searching every manufacturer from USA, Indonesia, India, Philipines and Australia. The problem faced was the fact that there is no off the shelf kit for our platform, let alone any desire from a manufacturer to design one. The theory was to take an already produced off the shelf product and see how it could be mated to the lines of the Cherokee, following all the right locations for mounting, and making sure it looked like it was designed for this platform. Taking a leap of faith, I finally sourced a company called TJM Airtek, who makes a model that seemed to look like it lined up perfect. Keyword here is SEEMED. I purchased from an Australian supplier who actually had this product in stock. Every other distributor told me it would be at least 2 months for it to be available. The company that provided me with the product is called RVTek. Manufacturer part number is listed below:

Seller of snorkel: RVTek
TJM Airtek part number: 011SAT0146E (Mazda BT-50 10'/11'+ 2.2 & 3.2 engines)
Item price: $325.97
Shipping: $99.76

To avoid emails and phone calls, I simply went online to their eBay shop, and asked them to have their listing for the product to include international shipping as well. Where the current dollar is at in Australia, this was a steal. Updates for install will come soon. Still need to source the correct hole saw, and plumbing for fitment to factory air box.

After speaking with Len in detail about this thread, keep it on topic as this is a discussion based on the sourcing of parts, installation and the end result only.

Most likely will have to purchase a few different 3" silicone hoses and couplings along with T-Clamps. This way I can design the piping to the bottom of the air box. These will also be listed along with prices.

I do buy a lot of everything on eBay, so you can take that route of you so fit. But I do my homework for the sellers out there and I always get the best price.

Here are some mockup pictures. Location of the hole is perfect, and when routing this air tubing. As you can see this will be easier than expected since it's basically made for this jeep. I have more but have to upload from a computer for some reason

@Len1304 there is no interference d=so far from mockups with the a-pillar light mounts. No issues with door closing and opening, along with no issues from hood as well.

That's great. Can't wait to see your other photos. I'm curious how bad the wind noise is going to be.

As long as it doesn't look like this, I'll be happy.

I think I might start drilling tomorrow due to weather being on the up. Really had no time the past two weeks, because I was prepping for my son being born and he came early this week, so I haven't been home until last night. Really want to start this because I had a closer look behind the wheel well liner and it's very simple to tie right into the factory tubing, which is right there.
