My avg mpg was 28

Even though I found out that my jeep is much slower than my wife edge, I do like to say that my family and I took an 1600 mile round trip and visited S. Dakota over the winter break.

My avg mpg was about 28 at average speed of 75-80mph and that too me is very impressive w/ this V6 and 9-spd transmission and 4x4 drivetrain.
The cargo cab area was full and along with a cargo carrier on the rear hitch with about 70 pound load. Family inside was My wife , two kids and I.

We did hit some major wet and snow storms along the way and I kept it in auto mode , but never blink to see if the 4wd actually worked or not. I didn't bother putting it into snow mode.

Overall the fuel mileage was great and it handled the nasty storms we came up against.

Happy new year all.

Man I wish! One of the main reasons we dropped one of our Wranglers and got the KL was for fuel economy. Sadly, the only way we can average low 20s is to stay off the highway.

We just wrapped up an 800-ish mile trip and averaged a mere 18.7 MPG and never went over 77mph (most of it was less than 60MPH). Our '13 JKU on 37" tires and 5.13 gears made the same trip last fall and averaged 16.6 MPG. At this point we are regretting our decision to have given up so much capability and not gained economy.

I wish! 6000 mile road trip in December. I averaged 16 south of Idaho and 18-19 north of Idaho.

28 mpg is really good. My TH does good to get 24-25mpg when driven gently on the highway at 65mph with a tailwind, going downhill.

Isn't that weird? I found that in Utah I got 20+mpg but in New Mexico and Texas doing the same speeds I get 16-18. Same octane fuel too.

Might be due to the downhill coasting benefit..... dunno.

Len - I reside in central TX and my daily driving 30 miles round trip in city / traffic I still avg 21.5 - 22mpg.

When I got up to Colorado, I put in the cheap 85 oct and gas mileage was basically the same. I do like the power the jeep has in lower altitude though.

Here is my snap shots on the MPG. I did do it old school and reset the odometer on every fill up of fuel and I say the DIC is very accurate indeed!

Happy trails!!

Also will note and say tires make huge difference in gas mileage. After having a 4x4 full size truck which had Michelins LTS radials and replacing them with Hankook ATs it was the worse gas mileage hog ever!! I regretted getting rid of my Michelins then .

As for the Cherokee I have on set of Michelins and they great... wait I mean wonderful tires and worth every dollar / cents I paid for them.
