First road trip.

We finally went on our first road trip in the Cherokee. We went from Reno NV to The Dalles OR, started with 2300 miles and ended with 3600 miles. I have to say it was the most comfortable long trip drive I have ever been on. We averaged 29.9 mpg which is funny, I checked AAA gas calculator before we left and it told me to expect to spend around $235 round trip, we came in just under $100 round trip.
Now I was nervous about keeping gas cost down, so I took off my roof basket at a cost of stretching room for our Pug(he didn't have much room in the back set). Next time I'm going to leave it on and I bet I still come in under AAA cost estimate (plus the Pug will be happy to have the whole back seat).

Garage
I read somewhere that the Cherokee will seat 3 adults comfortably. So, I guess two adults + one pug would be within reason.

We went from 4500 ft in Reno to 350 ft above sea level in The Dalles. So we were going downhill for most of the trip there. At one point the trip computer said we were getting 40.2 mpg. So, of course, the return trip was uphill and at points, the computer was saying 18.9. After doing all the mileage math when we got home it averaged out 29.9. Not too shabby! I was doing 65-70 most of the trip with very light traffic which helped I'm sure.

I love the Cherokee on road trips. I've driven back and forth from Montana to Alaska a few times and the last time I did it with the Cherokee was the first time my butt and back haven't started hurting!

Glad you enjoyed your road-trip!
