RRO Brush Guard and Air Bags

Does anyone know the impact the RRO Brush Guards have on airbag deployment in the event of a crash (outside of off-road stuff)?

My father-in-law was a 27 year mechanic at Subru. I mentioned what I wanted to do to my TH (RRO Brush Guards, etc), and he told me to be careful. In the mechanic world, he remembered one of the big lawsuits regarding airbag vs brush guard. Someone put an aftermarket brush guard on their Pathfinder, got into an accident and the airbags didnít deploy. They sued Nissan and lost, since the aftermarket altered the performance of the safety measures. Not Nissan's problem.

I donít care about who would win a lawsuit, but more worried about my wife and kid's safety if there was an accident on the high-way (non off road).

Thoughts?

PS: I know people posted that RRO is working the Brush Guard for the Tech Group over the Ďwinter monthsí. So I am going to wait, since I donít want to mod myself (cut holes like some folks did). But thought Iíd ask and see if anyone has info on the airbag issue. Iím not sure how it would work in the Wrangler world, since those things are meant to me modded.

The RRO light mount and brush guard mount directly to the front bumper beam. In case of a front end collision the bumper should properly trigger the airbag. What some bumper/brush guards do is mount to the frame or front supports instead of the bumper so the frame/supports take the impact and not the bumper so the airbag may not deploy.

That looks awesome - did you do the tech group mod yourself or is RRO offering now. Plan on doing the same, but Line-Xing as well

I did the Mod myself. I was surprised how large I had to make the holes to not be seen by the sensors. I thought it would come out in more of a cone pattern. Anyone wanting to do it now will have an easier time than me due to the fact you can use a hole saw now that I have the hole size correct. I tried slightly larger then the sensor and when that didn't work I lost my ability to use a hole saw and I had to resort to plasma cutter. I provided hole size and location to RRO. I was also impressed that the radar for the ACC did not pick up the bottom of the plate. So far I have zero issues.
