LED Bumper Mounts

There has been a lot of interest in LED bumper mounts, so I designed my own. I had a shop laser cut out of 3/16 plate. These are pictures of the prototypes. They can be mounted by drilling 2 small holes in the top bumper in an area that is not visible. Individual LED lights or light bars can be mounted. All you have to do is space them to the light bar length. I will probably primer these and use plastidip. The 1/4" rubber is to lift off the bumper and the hardware is stainless. If I ran more plates, I would probably consider powder coating, and a 1" slot instead of a round hole at the bumper mount point. This would allow for some + or - tolerance when using light bars.

Fantastic idea. I would like to see them installed with a light bar attached.

Having not been behind my bumper skin...is the area where you have them placed a solid part of the bumper core? What are you drilling into? Do you plan on nuts and washers or threading whatever is underneath?

Very nice work and nice idea!

Take a look at my picture of the top of the bumper skin. If you open the hood and put your hand under the top bumper, there is a nice steel lip under the skin. I plan on having a 6-8 mm or 3/6-14 hole drilled through the skin and bumper. Very simple, you would not have to remove anything. Stainless nuts bolts and washers are used to attach. The RRO light bar mount requires the bumper removal and 4 difficult holes to drill. I will put some pictures up as soon as I install. It will take some time, because I need to decide on Piaa, Rigid, etc lights. 4 Wheel Parts is having a big show May 16th at the Dallas Market hall. Great deals on LED lights from all the mfg's.

I'm having some Dually lights installed behind that lower grill on my TH, but they are bolting them into the top and are drilling directly into the bumper structure. You don't want to mount on something even the slightest bit flimsy or the lights may bounce around over rough terrain leading to a possible failure.

These will be drilled through the metal structure. Same procedure as all the light mounts on Jeep Wrangler bumpers.

Have you figured out how to remove that thin plastic strip where your mounting holes are located, or are you planning on drilling through it?

On a side note, I might also recommend button head Allen bolts instead of the cylindrical head you currently have.

I plan on drilling through. The RRO bumper mount requires you to drill through everything also. The RRO holes are in front of the bumper instead of on top. Button head allen bolts are good. I have both, and will decide which will look better. Thanks.
