Trailhawk windshield replacement - No Willy?!

Hey guys,

I have a 2014 Trailhawk with everything but the tech package.

6 hours after a chip appeared in my windshield during a drive to work, it has split across the entirety of the glass.

Called, Geico, they sent Safelite to replace the windshield. During the online questionnaire, it asks you things like "Is your windshield heated?", "Do you have rain sensitive wipers?", etc.

One of the questions was "Do you have the Willy silhouette on the bottom center of the windshield?"

I of course answered "yes" since I do. However, once installed, i noticed the replacement windshield does not have this logo. I called Safelite and they said those were discontinued immediately after they were made and they couldn't order them.

I had them put the old windshield back on, same day and now I'm hunting for the correct one. I called a dealership and got this part number: 68272881AB which they listed as a "super-ceded part" and couldn't guarantee that the logo was on the glass and if I ordered it I would be stuck with the windshield if it wasn't on there.

Help!

What's up with this windshield? Do we all just lose the willy windshield if we get a crack?

Geico along with many other insurance companies will default to installing Non OEM parts when they need replaced. Sometimes you have to specifically request OEM replacement glass from safelite. They do have it though. I have replaced 6 or 7 Cherokee windshields. It's a nightmare to sometimes find a replacement often times requiring it to be gotten directly from the dealer. I posted quite some time ago that they make something like 26 different windshields for the Cherokee. So sometimes you just don't get the right one.

Thanks for the reply . Safelite told me it was OEM, but I checked with the dealer and they said they had to order it straight from Detroit. Maybe i'll go ahead and order one and see if its the right one. You wouldn't happen to remember the right part to ask for?

My 2016 Jeep Cherokee Sport has no "Willy" on the windshield. Guess they needed it to put more "Easter Eggs" on the Jeep Renegade!

My window has a crack to and I did report a claim for Geico into replacing my windshield.

Thank you for letting me think twice in using Safelite, which is Geico's only option. $495 from Safelite thats non OEM is expensive.

I looked around in my area for an OEM replacement. I got quotes from $650, $489 and $450. All three are OEM and all three required my VIN to search the OEM Replacement. So in a week or two, I will be replacing my windshield for $450. The guy that's offering $450 out the door did offer $290 non OEM. BUT, I need that Willy's Jeep on my window

Keep in mind everyone. If you have the tech package and have your window replaced you must also have your ACC and lane departure system recalibrated. Insurance should cover that as well since it's required by the manual when replacing the glass.
