Roof Rack Weight Limit

I can't find in the technical specs what the weight limit is for the roof rack on the 2014 Trailhawk. We plan to carry four bikes up there, and that can push a limited capacity on some cars.

Has Jeep published this number?

150 from the OM, 4th edition;

NOTE: Roof rack and crossbars cannot be used on vehicles equipped with Skysliderฎ.
The load carried on the roof, when equipped with a luggage rack, must not exceed 150 lbs (68 kg), and it should be uniformly distributed over the cargo area.
Crossbars should always be used whenever cargo is placed on the roof rack. Check the straps frequently to be sure that the load remains securely attached.

Hi @gary. This forum is specific to Cherokee (KL) not Grands. But check your owners manual, 100kg is probably too much for the standard rails and you might need to upgrade to a proper rack.

I know RRO won't commit, but if GOBI will say 300lbs driving weight, I'm thinking RRO wouldn't be too much different. But the GOBI feet are about 2x - 3x the size

remember that the roof must proof to be safe during a roll over. how much weight do you think will be on the roof in that case?

No, there are options when it comes to holes in the roof. Commandview is the glass style with the slide back interior lining, which is the most common. You can use roof racks with this. I haven't seen a skyslider but I think it is a material style sunroof that concertinas back over the back seats as well for that convertible feeling.
