Good idea! I'm been thinking about trying to figure out a way to get that compartment from a totaled Jeep and messing with different configurations. It would be cool to have different types of insets to put in that spot.

Off the top of my head, here's what I keep in my respective storage bins:

dash bin:
notepad
parking permit

center console bin:
gloves
tape measure
markers
flashlight
thermometer

side bin below headlight switch:
business cards

underseat storage:
heavier pair of gloves
facemask

sunglasses bin:
sunglasses (what else?)

net on passenger side:
earplugs
keys for hitch lock

small bin next to cupholders:
pen/pencil

bin next to selec-terrain knob:
costco card (quite handy)
iPod

Cargo space in back (not exactly a cubby, so technically cheating, but...):
Rubber boots
jug of washer fluid
boot brush (for getting mud off)
2ft level
Measuring wheel
winter high vis jacket
strobe light (when not in use)
couple extra pairs of gloves
high vis pants, and extra high vis vests
off-road accessory kit
snow brush/scraper
pink marking spray paint
extra safety glasses
and a few other odds and ends

I'm still able to carry four extra passengers if I need to as I try to keep the rear seats, as well as the front drive seat clear of crap. My TH does have a bit of mud on the inside, so I'm going to not only get the bloody thing washed this weekend, but also clean out the interior.

My son decided that my Trailhawk needed a pet. We now have the "DASH HAMSTER" that lives in the dash compartment.

I like that. Does it provide services like a Trunk Monkey?

Kind of, I guess. When I get pissed at traffic, I pop open the dash. Who could be angry with that little cutie looking back?

I'm impressed by all the storage spots in my KL, but I am not one to leave much in my vehicles.
Maybe try lining it with the sticky-back velcro...the softer loop side. You can buy a package for just a few dollars. Of course, you'd be wasting the rougher hook side, but you could save it for some other project.

Oh, in my dash cubby, I have 4 different latte stand coffee cards...yes, I do enjoy my coffee drinks. I also have a 3' mini-tape measure keychain.

In my center console, in the top section, I have a pen and a small stack of napkins. In the bottom, I have another pen, more napkins, a 120v USB power cube (to use from the back outlet if necessary), a 2-port USB 12v power, a tire pressure gauge, some coins in the coin holder and some tokens for our local brushless car wash.
