Anyone have any creative use/ideas for this area? (See photo)

I'm one who likes to everyday-carry a lot of stuff in their vehicle. Safety-equipment, tools, etc. I know a lot of you are the same way, and you know as well as I do that cargo room is rather limited in the KL, particularly if you try to keep the cabin and cargo areas clear. I keep the cargo area (except for some stuff tucked in the small cubbies and in the little CMS area) clear for my 70lb pup, who rides back there fairly regularly. That only leaves a small space to put any gear/etc. So I'm really trying to maximize the usable storage space. I'm working to find a balance between being well-outfitted but also uncluttered--two things that diametrically opposed. Has anybody (with 6 speaker system) done anything with the small space pictured? There's a little shelf and a few hooks right there--it seems like a waste of empty space, and I'm trying to find a way to make use of it. I was thinking of attaching some kind of little basket, or a small cargo net to use as such.

Anybody know of anything or have any ideas?

that would be clever, maybe a bicycle rack bag? they have some models where the base mounts to your rear bike rack & the bag itself clips in & out using a quick release. but I don't know cuz the racks have the quick release built in

or maybe you can go this route, lol
sgrim and RhinosGoMoo like this.

I bungeed a small black MOLLE toolbag to mine. Bungees didn't attach directly to the little clips so I just tied some 550 cord loops and ran the bungees off of that.

So far so good!

Edit: The neat thing is, I've managed to get almost everything off the bottom of the trunk area so I have the whole thing for cargo.

That's a good idea, I like that. Damm, I just put in an order from LA Police Gear for the bag I'm making for the opposite side. I should have thought more steps ahead before ordering.

Do you mind posting a photo so I can get a visual?

I have a large 6 volt flash light clipped on to the clips with a slot in the flashlight handle. I had to put a piece of tape over the compartment light due to glare for the pic.

What MOLLE bag are you using? I'm thinking about putting a 1200D polyester Dopp/Shaving bag there after figuring out a method to hook it in.

Bungee cords and lashing straps always seem to be short-notice need, but are messy to leave laying around inside.
