Seat Covers

We just leased our Cherokee yesterday and now I'm freaking out about keeping the seats looking nice (I have a 2 year old and another on the way). I've found some covers that say fit "most" but are there any specifically for this car?

I got these ones. This is not a photo of mine. Smittybilt OD universal truck seat covers. Mainly got them to cover the backs of the seats due to my kids shoes always being dirty. I don't really think there are covers out there that are specifically made for our cars yet.

rt-texas and Cisconetdude like this.

Dang that's hardcore storage there! Lol- my son's feet won't be reaching the back of the seats anytime soon I'm mainly thinking of food spills and stain prevention. I already bought the seat protectors that keep the baby seats from digging into them but I need more protection!

These look promising: Canvasback

They have a waterproof backing on them. It looks like the cargo liner is custom made for each model, but the back seat cover is universal (so I'm unsure about the quality of fit). Might be worth checking out the thread above and asking some of the people that have ordered them.

Our first kiddo is on the way this fall and I will definitely be looking for ways to keep the backseat from turning into a sticky cheerio graveyard.

Check what your owner's manual says about the airbag in the back portion of the front seats. You can buy seat covers designed to not impede the release of that airbag but some owner's manuals say you may not use seat covers on that seat. At all. Our F150 says that. If you do anyway and get into an accident it would be easy grounds for your insurance company to deny coverage.

Since I don't have my Cherokee yet, I downloaded the user's manual. On page 73 of the manual it says under Warning "Do not use accessory seat covers or place objects between you and the SAB; the performance could be adversely affected and/or objects could be pushed into you, causing serious injury". On page 156 it states under the Warning "Do not place items over the top of the Active Head Restraint, such as coats, seat covers or portable DVD players. These items may interfere with the operation of the Active Head Restraint in the event of a collision and could result in serious injury or death".

Thank you for posting this. I'm disappointed but not surprised. Guess mine won't be personalized with custom made, by me, seat covers then. Phooey.

It's not a perfect solution but I always have had a folded bath towel under the booster seat. I have it stick out a few inches to protect the seat from all that food and dirt that collects under the booster seat. It also softens the contact points of the booster seat against the seat itself.

I like those seat covers for protecting the back of the front seat. Right now I make my 4yr old take his shoes off when riding in the jeep.
