Our TH has been at the dealer for three days now. They are dropping the headliner to track down the rattle. Ours sounds like there is some type of movement as well. I'll keep taking it back till they fix it. As nice as sunroofs are they can be a pain.

I was plagued with very noticeable/infuriating rattling when the sunroof was closed as well. It was loud enough to be heard over the radio and very discouraging. After a lot of experimentation on different fixes I found a 2 part solution that has for the past 3 weeks completely cured the rattle (which began when it got cold back in October.)

First, all the rubber seals on the sunroof was dried out, so as others on here suggested I lubed all the seals with 303 Aerospace protectant and it made a big difference. Probably 50-75% of the noise. But then the rattle started coming back and got loud again. After trial and error I realized that it was the front rubber seal on the front glass that was making noise against the metal as the front glass pane was moving. I found I could push up on the front corner of the front sunroof glass and hear the noise even though the seal was lubed.

So there are (6) T25 torx screws that hold the front sunroof on and they are hidden being the accordion rubber on each side of the sunroof. You can pop the accordion rubber pieces off starting at the rear bottom edge. I then barely loosened the (2) frontmost torx screws on each side of front panel and ever so slightly pushed the front edge of the sunroof down. It felt like it seated itself better and after tightening the screws i was not able to move it as much as before when i pushed on it.

To confirm that I was still leak free after my adjustment I had my wife (who thinks I'm crazy and just turns up the radio when she hears a rattle) dump a few gallons of water on each of the seals while I looked for leaks inside the car and there were none.

This has so far completely fixed my rattle. It was very easy to do but you probably take some risk in regard to leaks in adjusting the panel position like I did. But I did not want to get a whole sunroof frame replacement and so far this has worked 100%.

Glad to hear you solved your noise as well, infuriating is an understatement! This is almost exactly what I did about 2 months ago and I'm sunroof noise free as well. I broke one of the torx screws so be careful people. I had to buy some new screws that fit and they have VERY little margin for length (1/16" or so) or the sunroof will get jammed when sliding back. I also applied some threadlocker to the one of six mounts and screws of the front sunroof frame that I narrowed the noise down to. When it gets warmer I'll do the other 11 (front and back).

Good luck people!

Looks like the dealer is going to replace the frame.

My TH is in for the 3rd time... should have it back today.

1st - Replaced all weatherstripping (rattle still there, but flex squeak was gone)
2nd - Double check and adjust bolts/add silicon (rattle still there)
3rd - Remove sunroof and glass panel and add special goop from Chrysler

I'm not expecting this to fix it. So frustrating.

I've got a side to side flex creak on mine now. Kind of afraid it'll be this. I bought the German seal conditioner that was recommended in one of the threads and I'm going to try that. Meanwhile, dealer is relubing the rear bushings to see if that helps (unsure if it's high or low right now).

Yeah, mine has been creaking for months now. For the first month or so, I could open and close the sunroof to get it to stop for an hour or so. Now, it just creaks all the time... The joys of being a first year owner.

Original poster here again. So the dealer from whom I purchased my '14 Cherokee was "going to order a replacement" but after a few months of waiting followed by a customer service runaround, I've given up on their service department. Just as well. They soiled my headliner with their greasy fingers the last time they tinkered with the glass, anyway. So now I've found a service department that says they've had some (limited) luck with adjusting a spring on the stationary piece of glass, behind the mobile glass. Appointment made. Meantime, they report, Chrysler is aware of the problem and working on a fix. Thanks all for confirming that I'm not imagining this!

Trip 2 to the local dealer for this repair. Oh, I've only had the '15 TH for 3 weeks.
They duplicated the sound, more like a rubbing or glass creaking noise but didn't know how to fix it. Sad.
I bring it in on Tuesday and they need it for awhile so I get a loaner.
Ill be back here next week.
I will bring up the front torx screw thing from a few posts up.

I was actually able to fix this problem using one product. In another thread it was suggested to use Gummi Pflege ($9 http://www.amazon.com/einszett-91480.../dp/B004B8GTQG) for similar creaking noises with all the doors and rear hatch. Really obnoxious. It turns out it was the weather strips rubbing against each other or metal. I had limited success at first, or so I thought, but I had never used the lubricant on the sun roof seals. Once I hit that a few times -- 3 times over 2 weeks -- it seemed like noise went away and is staying away. Now I can finally ride around with the sunroof vent closed. It's quiet. Finally.

But it comes back every now and then. I still have the clunk when opening it, maybe every other day. And it's not dead silent. I still hear a bit. It almost no longer bothers me. Ha. Cars make noise. There's sometimes nothing you can do about it
