My contract was dealer cost, emphatically stated by the dealer when I bought the KL and Maxcare and, almost refused until I told them I'll buy outside of them for cash. The dealer is the one BSing you here. They stated they can only sell it at the cost to them then they shouldn't be charging more than what Zeller quotes. If they are then they are breaking the same law they are using to justify this line of Bull stuff. They are not discounted rates, they are marked up rates if they go above Zeller.

Florida is a pretty big state and I have to assume there are dozens of Jeep dealerships. For them all to have this policy and refuse to veer from it indicates to me that someone with authority told them not to. I'm not saying that it wouldn't be smart of them to do it -- quite the contrary. But I just don't see that level of coordination being possible.
My basis for this theory – and I acknowledge that it is only a theory – is that in my state, dealers have created regional associations to share the cost of advertising and other marketing activities. Add to that, most of the dealers in my state own and operate multiple locations statewide, as well as neighboring states. So it certainly isn't outside the realm of possibility for a relatively small group of dealers to make an impact on FCA corporate by coordinating their message about discounted service plans. Possibly, Florida dealers don't form regional associations or own multiple dealerships.

Hopefully the OP updates us today on what he heard back from Clay/Zeller. It would be interesting to see if they've changed their policy.

I've contacted and just received info from Clay Robbins at Zeller. He is quoting me a price of $2430 for the Mopar Maxcare Lifetime Warranty w/$100 deductible. The warranty would be transferable with a $75 transfer fee. I will definitely buy from Zeller when the TH gets here. I'm puzzled as to the real reason why Zeigler no longer wants to sell at a discount in Florida but Zeller has no qualms selling to Florida.

I would buy the warranty from the dealer if he would match Zeller, but the only way they could possibly do this at this stage in the sale would be to move some other numbers around, ie. the already agreed vehicle price. I've already signed the buyer order contract, put a down payment and the vehicle is five weeks in build. I'm pretty sure the dealer at this point would tell me that they can't further 'discount' an already approved deal. Oh well, getting the healthy discounted price on the warranty is priority at this stage. Zeller will get my business.

Clay is selling at dealer cost. No markup. I got my TH in 12/15 and paid $2355 for Unlimited Maxcare with $100 deductible and my dealer confirmed, reluctantly, that was their cost. Selling at that amount meets the law you are stating for FL. A "discounted" rate would be less than dealer cost.

Wish you well and glad you are sticking it to dealer for trying to pull the wool over eyes with a backwards interpretation of a law.

NICE!

I paid $2315 for the $200 deductible. If I had known the $100 deductible option was only $115 more, I definitely would have opted for that.

Glad to see that Zeller is still in the game. Thanks for letting us all know.

Not sure about the $75 transfer figure, as Florida does require it to be no more than $40. But if it came to it and Zeller would process the request, I'd have no problem paying that.

I imagine they get some type of profit on the backend then. I can't see any dealer selling for cost with nothing in return since they have to do some paperwork, etc. They probably sell so many a month that they get $X in bonuses. Even better for us.

Wow, I really wish I did the $100 deductible option now .

Yeah a $600 doc fee for $10 of paperwork. I also got the TH for the employee discount because Father-in-law is retired from FCA.

I agree that the excessive doc fees are ridiculous (another problem in Florida...), but I'm not sure how that relates here. If they are selling a $2400 (their cost) policy for $2400, they would only do so if they made some sales bonus. There's no doc fee on this policy.

If they did, couldn't really tell, still loved the deal.
